Probably not the correct place to post but I have noticed over the past few days some posts about not coping PND and just feeling down in general.
I just wanted to give my thoughts on the subject as I can relate to people who worry and feel anxious because I was like that after the birth of my daugher (4 1/2 years ago). I worried if I gave enough stimulation etc. Felt guilty if I put her in front of the TV too much etc. However sometimes you just have to get things done so I have put her in front of the TV, I have given her sweets to keep her quiet for a few minutes to get jobs done, I have taken her to Macdonalds because I couldnt be bothered too cook etc. etc.
Has she been damaged by this? NO NO NO!!!! She can already read, she can spell all the words she needs to know by the time she leaves reception class in school (she has not even started school yet!). She can ride a bike without stabilisers. She can swim. She has lots of friends. She eats everything without complaint (except mushrooms).
What I am trying to say is that DONT WORRY the fact that you are worried probably means that you are doing a much better job than you think. Also dont compare yourself or your child to other people. Just because you (ocassionally) let your child have Macdoalds because you cant be bothered to cook one night does not make you a bad mum and does not mean your child will grow up being obese. Just because you put your child in front of the telly does not mean that they will suffer from it.
Please dont beat yourselves up over everything.
I have just had my second child (16 weeks ago) and I am pleased to say that I am 100 times more relaxed with him and I am confident that I am doing the BEST JOB I CAN!!!!
Happy parent = happy children!.
