My LMP was in Aug and during the whole month of Aug, my husband and I did not have sex. The last time we had sex was in the first week of September and how lucky that I got pregnant. Today Oct 7, I had my first ultrasound. According to my LMP date, they said that I am about 7 weeks pregnant. Then I asked if I could hear the heartbeats. She said it's still too early and I have to wait a little bit. Is that normal?

Hi, congratulations!

Yes that is definitely normal - I just heard the heartbeat for the first time today and I am 18 weeks!

But it varies depending on where you are in the world and what sort of treatment you’re having. Different hospitals also act differently - some you can hear the heartbeat at the 12 week scan but in both my pregnancies this hasn’t been an option!

Are you talking about seeing a heartbeat on a scan, or them letting you listen to the heartbeat?
The heartbeat can usually be seen from around 6/7 weeks onwards
