6 week scan.. What should I expect?!

Looking for advice from mummas experienced in early scans!! I have my 6 week scan on Friday and following several early losses I'm terrified that it's either going to show that things aren't right or that it's going to cause more anxiety because I expect to see more than I should..

So, what did you see at your 6 week scan? Very little? Foetal pole? Foetal heartbeat??

I will be 6 weeks exactly according to the day I ovulated and would very much appreciate hearing your stories!

Emma, we posted a minute apart and I more or less posted the same thing.

From what others have said and what I have read today the heartbeat can be seen BETWEEN 6-7 weeks.

I would go with an open mind, you may see hb but you may not and thats ok as things may be fine with baby.

I have been looking at videos of scans on YouTube and thats helped.

Hi, I had a scan recently following 2 losses. I thought I was 6+4. The sonographer dated me at 6+1 but we could still see the heart beat.
In my first pregnancy, which all worked out fine, I had a scan at 5+4 due to bleeding and the sonographer couldn't even tell for sure I was pregnant (blood test was positive but nothing on the scan) and thought I must have gotten my dates wrong.. but by the time of my 12 week scan my little one had caught up and was dated as I had first thought - so don't worry if you see less than you are expecting.

Selena, thank you for replying, I really hope your scan goes well too.. it's such a nerve wracking time isn't it?! Mine is on Friday when I'm pretty sure I'll be bang on 6 weeks.. How about you?

Luella, thanks so much for sharing- it's so nice to hear positive outcomes from both of your pregnancies - even when very little was seen on the scan initially.. I've driven myself mad searching for the percentage of women who get to see a hb at 6 weeks! I just want to know what to expect! It really helps hearing your story, thank you xxx

You would expect to see a HB but please remember this is if your dates are exact. And even if they are and you don't see one, These babies can tease us and just be shy! Other than this you'd see gestational sac, yolk sac and pole.

I had a scan at around 6wks (lmp) due to bleeding and saw no pole or HB. Went back to weeks later and all present and correct! Just have to get to 12wk one now. Fx ladies x
