Thought this was the best place to post.

My little girl was born in December and me and OH have always said we didnt want to wait to try for number 2. I'm exclusively breast feeding though so it's unlikely anything will be happening just yet. So at the moment I'm waiting to see when my periods return so thought I would post in here in case anyone else is doing the same! X

Breastfeeding is not a contraceptive and as long as it's what you both want, and you feel up to DTD you're supposed to be most fertile just before your first period after baby afaik xx

I know it's not reliable contraception which is good for us but have done the reading and spoken to midwives and they all said it's reasonably unlikely my periods will return immediately when feeding all day but you never know :) wish I knew when periods would return. My lochia bleeding stopped about two weeks ago so I guess when I see blood I'll know! Annoyingly I'd like to be DTD but am still pretty tender from delivery as I tore and had an episiotomy and forceps in theatre so won't be trying anything til the doctor gives me the all clear this week x

I'm envious I'd love another one straight away and ive not had this one yet lol

I'm EBF too and my AF returned by 9 weeks PP... I'd have liked it to stay away for awhile longer but I never get a break from her! LOL

Midwives told me the same thing they told you when I had my first child. I was pregnant again by the time he was 8 weeks old! :p So you never know!!!

Agree with the others you never know. There is a reason they tell people not to completely rely on it. Good luck :)

Enjoy the baby youve just had.
Theres so many lovely moments you wont want to miss x

You don't suddenly go blind deaf and dumb just because you get pregnant again. LOL You can still enjoy every moment of your baby despite being pregnant.

I do see what loula is saying though I don't know if I'd want to be dealing with nappies sleepless nights and morning sickness............ but like mum2many said u don't go deaf and blind. I'm now waiting to try for my 2nd, dd has just turned 10 months. But at the end of the day as long it's what u and ur oh want and what makes you happy then that's all that matters xx

I hope the wait isn't too long for you! It's really hard when you have no real control over it, so you just don't know how long you're going to be waiting!

I'm obviously not going to be obsessed with ttc like I was with the first because I do have a beautiful baby right in front of me but we want four children eventually which is why we would like a close age gap and want her to have a sibling she can play with. But I won't be letting ttc distract me from more important things :)

I suppose the other thing is that I'm a tiny bit of a control freak so I hate the not knowing when my period will just turn - I like to not be surprised by it but I know that can't happen now! X

Hi Rose! How are you hun? How's your beautiful little girl?
I was exactly the same after I had my first, missed my bump and wanted to get pregnant asap. That feeling never really went away until I got pregnant with this one. However I exclusively breastfed and my period didn't come back till 8 months pp. I started tracking ovulation and it wasn't until 12 months pp that I actually ovulated, the three months before that were anovulatory cycles which my gp said was very normal. I guess it was good it took this long because I personally couldn't have coped with such a small age gap. Also pregnancy makes me exhausted and I felt it did stop me enjoying some of my daughter's toddlerhood because I felt too sick/tired/irritable and also I bled for half the pregnancy.
Having said that I know people who have had their period by 8 weeks and pregnant at 4 months pp and absolutely loved the whole experience!
Xxx

Hi goat! How are you?!
My little girl is doing great although she is on to her second cold since she was born which is a shame for her! But she is breast feeding well and growing extremely well :) x

My daughter is 5 weeks today I also have a 13 month old and 5 year old I'm wanting to ttc soon partner says wait until summer arghh x

Well I'm thinking this will take much longer than I thought anyway...we tried to DTD this morning and it was very very uncomfortable, my internal stitches seem to still be causing me quite a bit of discomfort. I have my 6 week check on Thursday so will see what they say about it then x
