5 weeks pregnant - want pains explained!

Hi all

Just found this site, very useful. I am 5 weeks pregnant and feeling a bit lost before meeting my midwife in 4 weeks time.

I am having a lot of period type pains and have had a couple of brownish mucas type discharge. Spoke to my doctor she told me to relax.

Just wondered if anyone else has had this experience?

I'm still getting period type pains now, it's just your womb stretching for the baby. The brown discharge sounds like it could be old blood coming out which is also normal.

i just found out im preggers!!! got the pains and was worrying myself though doc told me not to i think its rubbish not getting much info from the start thank god for forums!!! im soooo tired aswell

I had brown discharge aswell, doctor told me if was implantation bleeding- thats how I found out I was pregnant!!! I have recently (I'm 10 weeks) just started having pains, but apparently its just stretching pains. Good luck!!! xxxx

if i found out im preggers first then i can see mw at 6-8weeks at the surgery, then i have anotehr appointment from her at home 10-12weeks. that depends if i know im preggers. thats also when she makes appt for the 12weeks scan

i have a list to go by so i know where i am and what im doing my next appt is for the 25weeks scan which i would be seeing her this tues but its fully booked so im booked in for the 1st may.

Hi mjacks73,

I'm about the same distance along as you and going through exactly the same, although I haven't seen my doctor yet (I'm waiting to see if the brown turns red and trying not to panic). As far as I can tell from talking to friends and checking my books etc etc (I'm a geek, sorry!) this is all normal. Please let me know how you're getting on though, it would be good to compare notes.

It's scary even though I know it shouldn't be!

Hi thanks to all of you coming back to me. I've now had a couple of bleeding shows. Went to the doctor today and he's booked me in for a scan tomorrow.

On Monday night the cramps I had been having were quite sharp at times, think it's best I get it checked out.

Just to keep you informed, I went for my early scan on Wednesday, there was something there . The doctor could see the sack and yoke (sorry TMI )

He said everything seemed ok, have to go back in two weeks for another scan.

Since going to my scan I haven't had anymore bleeding
