Good afternoon ladies!

Hope you all had a good weeekens?

Has anyone had a 4D scan done or know when is best to go? I want to pay for a private scan to take my 5 year old along to and have found a great offer locally but it includes a 4D scan so want to make sure I go at an optimum time so that our daughter gets the most from the experience.

Thank you x

I had a 4D scan at 29 weeks and you could see so much! (See my avatar!)
We could see him yawn and make facial expressions and even smile. Seriously.

I guess the longer you wait the better the experience will be because the better developed they are.
I've seen 4D scan pictures at 16 or so weeks that don't look anything like babies because they're still so small and developing.

Have a google for 4D scan photos at certain weeks? I see from your signature you're 21ish weeks so I think that would be fine :)

Enjoy!

I think for optimum pics it's between 27-30 weeks so I'm holding of until then. Had one at 28 with my lb and it was quite clear x

this might sound like a very stupid question but can you already tell which parent the baby resembles from the 4D pic? I am just super curious to know.

I will see the 4d scan on scan on saturday when i get the gender scan

I bought my husband a voucher for a 4d scan for Father's Day and we have just booked it for Sunday as it's the day before his birthday. It should say on the website the best times to have them from. I think mine stated between 24-31 or so were the best times to go. I'll be 27+5 when we have ours :) xx

This was mine at 18 weeks lol looks pretty good to me

As I was like 29+5, our scan was SUPER clear. We could see that he has OH's pout (bottom lip) and nose in my opinion, but not much more in terms of who they look like. Babies tend to be really squishy and weird looking for a while after birth anyway and change so much!

I've attached two photos of my scan for comparison. The poster before me said hers was at 18 weeks so you can see a huge difference in how much detail there is the longer you wait, because obviously they've grown more and their face is more defined.

If you're looking for a scan in order to see as much as possible as opposed to a reassurance scan, then I recommend waiting as long as possible (they sometimes have cut off limits though) for the best images. But then also be prepared that the baby might not want you to see! We spent about 10 minutes trying to get him to move his hand from his face...! I was lucky to have such a nice and patient sonographer!
