Hi

First time poster here!

Wondered what everyones opinion is. Im 40 (just) and up until recently never wanted more children ( I have a 20 year old boy and a 10 year old girl) but recently it is all I can think about!

Hubby always wanted more but is worried its just a phase and I will change my mind so we have said 3 months to think about it then if we are still sure we will try!

Im worried though with my age that it may take longer to conceive (happened really quick with my other two!) and that if it takes months and months to happen i could be 41 nearer 42 before baby was born!

Im obviously also worried about any health problems the baby may have with me been older but im in reasonable health (could do with losing some weight so i am on with that at the moment).

My eldest is all for it he said id it makes us happy then to go for it, im not sure what my youngest would think! im worried it would disrupt her when she is ready for starting big school next year!

Ive spoke to a couple of friends one said i would regret having another baby! my other friend said I may regret not having one!

Any opinions or experiences of having a baby at my age would be appreciated!

We both have good jobs, own our own home, have the space for another child and have supportive families so there are no issues with any of that!

Once theyre here you wouldn't regret having one
And plus... Id rather regret doing it than too long go by and regret not doing it when its too late
You might take longer to conceive. I think theres higher chance of having multiples or higher chance of things like down syndrome etc
But at the same time its pot luck no matter your age!
Your daughter will get used to it. Dont let that worry you
My mum had me at 41. Plenty have kids older now generally
Do whats right for you x

Hi yes i agree im more likely to regret not doing it! im lucky my hubby is fantastic and really hands on with our daughter so i have no doubts that he would be really supportive with a new baby! my eldest doesnt live at home but would come and babysit lol!

I just think why wait my hubby is 45 but really fit and active! I said if we were to have another i wanted the house sorting (needs some redecoration) got home yesterday and he had redecorated the kitchen for me lol so i think he is eager!

Thanks i replied earlier to your comment but it seems to have dissapeared!

The health risks worry me but i agree its pot luck, best thing i can do is be as healthy as possible.

X

If its on your mind go for it
As you say you never know how quickly you could catch xxx

Hubby said he is primed and ready to go! Think he is over estimating himself personally lol.

Lol
Bless him
Enjoy the act of it not just the outcome xx

Soo after deciding to wait 3 months before we try we decided to just go for it! no time like the present! its Ovulation weekend (hopefully) so heres hoping!!!

Better it happening too soon than holding off and it maybe taking a long time x

Good luck. I was knocking on the door of 43 when I had my Violet., almost 2 years ago. No regrets. I definitely feel more tired than when I had my older sons (1997 & 2000 respectively) but it's been worth it. I didn't have a major problem getting pregnant although I did have 1 miscarriage. It only took a few cycles (less than 5 I think) To get my sticky bean. I wish you all the best and that I could join you again. OH says no more and that's difficult for me right now, even though I know I'm pushing the bounds at 44. xxx

Do your older kids enjoy having a baby sister?

Hope this answers your question xxx
