4 year old on Facebook

And even on the highest priority settings any Facebook profile can receive friend requests from a friend of a friend now. Which drives me insane as my friends have people on their lists who I never want to hear from again who then try to contact me.

You've always been able to request to be friends with someone you have absolutely no contact with - even on highest priority - thats kinda the point of FB - otherwise how would you connect with anyone.

No, previously you could lock everything down to me/friends only. I know this because I had my account locked down to that level for many years as a protection against a couple of people who enjoy stalking me.

If you don't have mutual friends and the person you want to add is set to friends of friends, you can't add them.

The way I use facebook is as a method to stay in meaningful contact with people I no longer live near; I cull my friends list regularly of anyone who doesn't contact me and I don't have for instance people from school on there just for the sake of us having been at school together.

I wanted full protection it really got on my nerves that friends of friends could contact me cause I didn't want them there. I've had to put a note on my about me section telling friends of friends not to try adding me it's really annoying. You used to be able to have just friends adding you. FB's gone a bit batty with these changes I think.
