Hi all, gave birth to my little boy on the 15th april so he was 4 weeks yesterday. He just never sleeps on a night and I don't know what else to try. I try putting him down at 9 every night but he usually just keeps waking straight away and feeds until he finally settles around 12/1. Then hell sleep for 2-3 hours and then either be wide awake and stay up 2-3 hours or hell go back down to just wake 30-45 mins later all night. I have a 2 year old so cant catch up on sleep in the day and she never slept that bad so I'm at a bit of a loss what else to do. Ive tried him sleeping in q crib,in a moses basket. Ive tried putting my tshirt in with him, using white noise and swaddling and nothing so far has heloed. Just wondered if anyone here had any tips or ideas I could try? I'm breastfeeding so hubby cant even help to give me a rest and after 4 weeks barely any sleep I'm starting to feel really down. We live in a little village away from all our family so have no help near and feeling pretty alone at the moment, any advice would be really appreciated x

Is he cluster feeding on an evening to? Or just having the big feed late on? I'd be trying to encourage him to feed lots earlier. Could he be too cold or too hot? I want to say it's just a stage, my DD was a nightmare I'm so nervous about my next one coming next month. Could you try co sleeping?

Does he sleep more in the day? Some babies get a bit turned around between night and day. Some babies are just bad sleepers! Our 1st didn't sleep well day or night.

Our 3rd had trouble gaining weight and it was hard to keep him warm at night so he woke constantly. We ended up cosleeping and he slept like a log ever since. The Chico next to me cot was useful.

Hes not really cluster feeding at night, dont think hes too hot/cold have a room thermometer and always dress accordingly. I have thought about cosleeping but it terrifies me!

He does sleep a lot during the day,he has maybe 3 periods of being awake an hour to an hour and a half and is asleep the rest of the time. Its so hard, last night was the same I got 2-3 hours sleep and then he was up all night. So so tired, really feel like I cant cope anymore x

Maybe try waking him up more often in the day and see if that helps his night sleeping?

If he is not feeding the whole time he is awake for long stretches could you maybe give him a feed and then ask OH to take him for a while?

Try a Co sleeper. My boy was the same, wouldn't sleep in his bed at all but would nap in my arms all day long. I would feed him in my bed and he would drop to sleep so peacefully, he just wanted to be close to me all the time. His basket was right next to the bed and I would try to comfort him but no way was he sleeping In there. I gave in eventually and Co slept with him and he slept so well, so I got a cosleeper Instead of using the basket. I feed him until he drops off then pop him in that and he's slept perfectly ever since. Since 6 weeks he has slept through the night minus a feed or 2 then he's straight back to sleep again. Even when he wakes in a Morning he will quietly entertain himself whilst I nap as he's right next to me :)

Well last night I gave in and coslept and we had a much better night! 11-345 and then 5-730. I didbt dare have my duvet so slept in my dressing gown and sent hubby to the spare room. Thinking I need to ibvest in a cosleeper so there's room for him and I can have my blabket back but feeling brilliant this morning for getting some sleep!

Thanks ladies x

Sent the husband to get a chicco next2me crib and seb slept much better again,11-745 with just 2 half hour feeds and straight back down. Total lifesaver!! Worth every penny X
