I am concerned that my little princess is turning into a little pudding. Last time she was weighed, which was on the 26th July she weighed practically 18lbs.

I have even had people comment on it and tell me not to feed her so much. I.e. the reflux lady and the consultant.

Now as some of you know I am following a routine which prescribes a certain number of feeds a day.

She is fed:

7-7.30am
11am
2.30-3pm
6.30pm
10.30pm

The 10.30pm feed is a dream feed. I have not fed her in the night now for a long time, maybe 2 months or so. She has started sleeping right through i.e. no waking from 10.30 to 7-8am.

She is barely on the breast longer than 10 mins now when she feeds, I'm struggling to cut that bit down.

Is what I am feeding her excessive? Could you post how often your LO feeds/fed at the same age?

She is settled between feeds and there are no signs to wean or anything yet. As I am going on what is recommended in the routine I didn't think it was excessive.

I bottle feed but at that age kayla was having 4 bottles a day of 270 ml , still does now but with some food so doesnt always finish them

You could always try droping the dream feed and see how you get on?

We feed at 8am 12 4 and 8 , give or take half hour or so either side of it or sometimes a hour depending on her mood lol

I get lots of comments from people on the size of her too, not had her weighed in a long time but she is in 6 to 9 month clothes and 9 to 12 in some bottoms so going by that i dont think she is too big, lil tbag is so cute i wouldnt worry too much

Doesn't sound a lot to me at all! Max was 17lbs on 10th july- he's 19lbs 5oz at 20 weeks old

Is she following her centile? Max was having 6 8oz bottles a day until I started weaning him now he has 2 meals n 5 4-6oz bottles

I really really don't think she's overeating at all!!?

Xxx

At that age my lo was feeding 10 or more times a day. Even now at 6 months, she eats 7-9 times, plus three meals. She is teeny though, so I guess it is different.

I feed Harry loads more than that Hun- we still do every 2-3 hours with him and with him waking in the night (like now!!) even more

Harry was weighed on Tuesday and at 17 weeks nearly he is 16lb 5oz- but as you know he's tall!

You're def not over feeding but I. Would try dropping the dream feed if only to give you a break. You only need to try it once to see if it works x

My lo has 5 feeds in 24 hrs, sometimes an extra one if she wakes in the night, she doesn't always finish her 7oz bottles now though and shes still a little chub x

We always have 6 feeds a day

5am
8am-9
11-12
2pm
5pm
7.30

he feeds for about 10mins in day feeds and 20mins morning and night

he is only small though, he was 12lb3 at 18 weeks hes just not interested in feeding more often in the day

as long as Tilly is happy i wouldnt worry!

Thank you ladies. I am going to drop the dreamfeed at the weekend I think and see how we get on.

Alyssa feeds every 3 hrs or so and has 3 formula feeds a day and breakfast and tea solid puree meals. shes in 9-12 month clothes and probably 20lb+ now but since shes on 98th centlie and followed it since birth noone says anything about it...

Joe always had a dream feed at about 11pm, but if we went to bed later, say midnight, he wasn't waking up demanding his feed, so 2 weeks ago we decided to try without it and Joe slept through no problems. The only downside is he wakes up a bit earlier between 6 and 6.30 instead of 7.30! For a few days he was 'starving' when he woke up but now he quite happily plays for a bit before having his bottle.

Evie's timetable (all approximate!!)
7
10
1
4
7-8
All feeds are 6oz of normal SMA which she normally has most of, apart from last feed which is a 9oz hungry baby milk feed split before and after bath. As you are aware of my post a while ago (and beckyboo1's pics of her and Harry!!) my girlie is quite a chub! But according to the whole 2.5ozs milk per lb of bodyweight rule the HV told me she is normally underfed by a good 8ozs a day!!

Hi Tor - Theo does exactly the same as Tilly,

7:30am - 210mls
11am - 180mls
2:30pm - 180mls
6:30pm - 210mls
10:30pm - 210mls

Theo is still following the 50th percentile and I feed him exactly the same times as Tilly, so don't worry my lovely! She's just meant to be gorgeously chunky :) xxx

I had her weighed today. She's 19lb 2oz at 20 weeks! Still on the 98th percentile as she has been since birth pretty much.

I asked if they would measure her and she is 98th for length too so at least she is in proportion.

I just got worried when the lady who came to see us about the reflux commented about big babies and them struggling with their mobility and rolling etc because they are too heavy. T bag can roll but she won't anymore :(

I wouldn't worry about what the reflux lady said at all. Some babies are big and some babies are small, just the way it is! I have an 18 month old and out of my group of friends with babies the same age quite a few of them had babies sitting around the top of the growth charts. There was no difference in when these babies sat up/ crawled/ walked when compared to the smaller ones.

I'm interested in your routine and how you managed to get it established? Obviously it's very early days for my new LO but in a few months once my milk supply is established and LO has gained a good amount of weight I am thinking that a routine might be the way to go this time round as my LO's are close in age. I am quite clueless when it comes to routines though so any advise would be appreciated! x

thats stupid hun, my lo is just like yours, big and beautiful and all in proportion but with dimples instead of tillys lush chops!, she can roll if she wants to and has done it once but is far more into sitting up and walking in her walker. now that she can sit fairly easily shes trying to go straight from sitting to crawling so lurches forward or to the side and then faceplants lol. she likes being on her tummy more now and will probably crawl in the next couple of months but wont roll unless she sees someone she wants to grab and only rolls ono her side not completely over
