38 week MW appt

I’ve completely forgotten from last time, do they do an internal examination at the 38 week appt or wait til 40? Have mine next week and don’t want to be surprised! Thanks x

I didn't, it was just a standard 'how are you feeling', blood pressure, wee check, and any questions. She then offered me a sweep for my next app which I had day before 39 weeks. Xx

Am I the only one who was never examined during pregnancy? My first exam was at 10cm to check how far along i was lol

I think maybe they only start checking things if you’re over due x

I was never examined until my sweep on my due date.

In the area Im in now, they dont offer sweeps until you are one week overdue

No sweeps here until 41w either.

I should get my appointment at the "prolonged pregnancy clinic" soon and that is when you are 41w +. You get the option of a sweep.

Obviously appointment gets cancelled if you have baby before it.

Thanks ladies, I was more just referring to dilation/effacement and all that jazz rather than sweeps. I know I deffo didn’t have sweeps until 40+ last time - not something you’d forget in a hurry haha! x

I have never needed the prolonged pregnancy clinic but they will examine you before giving a sweep. If conditions aren't favourable then they won't sweep?

I guess you could always have the examination and not sweep?

It's not something I've ever had offered prior to edd though.

I haven’t heard of prolonged pg clinic, not sure it’s anything official in my area! I’m being induced on due date so likely won’t get a sweep (nor do I want one!) xx
