Hey ladies I'm new to here.

I received a letter this morning asking me to go in on Friday 10th December for a scan, blood tests and to see the midwife, doctor and consultant.
I've looked through my notes numerous times to see if there is anything concerning them and there is nothing written in there as they don't normally ask for a scan at 34 weeks unless its for a growth scan if baby is measuring big or small.
They have said that I have been measuring a week behind but they haven't been too concerned with that.

I'm not too sure if this is routine or not.

Wonder if you ladies could help me?

xx

ive not got and experience hun, but would think its only a good thing that they are keeping a close eye on you,

my local hospital dont do it as routine, but a friend who lives in the next town to us, had a standard 34wk scan which picked up her big baby and so consultant was able to monitor closer for the last few weeks and she was induced at 40+3

good luck and i wouldnt worry too much until ur there, when you ring to book the appt they might be able to tell u if there are any concerns

i got an extra scan at 38 weeks as they thought baby was too wee but she is fine. I was measuring 3 weeks behind tho so not sure why you need another scan. Is it maybe just routine in your area? Shouldnt be anything to worry about tho as even measuring 1 week behind is fine as plenty time to catch up.

Thanks for your replies ladies, its not so much routine in my area. I have tried looking it up to see what they say but the hospital website doesn't state anything.
I've got a appointment with my Midwife two days before I'm due to go into the hospital for my scan etc so I might ask and see what they say.
It has really bugged me as my midwife didn't tell me that there might be another scan as she always tells me when I'll be getting a letter to go in for a scan as she arranges everything for me.
I'm hoping that it is nothing worrying as to why they have sent for me.

Welcome to PF!

It may be routene, to check baby's position , incase breach etc , or maybee your midwife refered for same reason without mentoning which would be a bit a naughty.
My consultant scanned me once, (not a full scan , just a quick 1 min mobile unit one to check the amout ofk fluid, and he said that was routene at the time).

Good luck and let us know how you go
