i jus had to take my cat to the vets becasue he hasnt been eating very well, and i had him like 12 years.. basically all my life i cn remember :( and the vet said that hes got a lump in his stomach which means theres a really massive possibility thts its a cancer or tuma, and that means he will have to be put down, i stood in the room as soon as i heard it i burst out crying, my mum was trying to hold it together
hes booked in for thursday for the operation and in my eyes its like hes waiting to die, cos the vet didnt seem too enthusiastic that thing wil be ok.
so my day is now shit. and i got to wait till thursday. :(

   I'm so sorry Robyn!!!!!
I know it sounds bad but they dont know if the lump is bad yet, it could be a cyst or anything, cats do live a really long time these days. I'd try not to panick until it's been removed

   Poor you. I know exactly how you feel my cat is 18 and has a catalogue of problems but we are managing them with meds. i recently found a large mole next to her ear. i honestly thought the worst but we had it removed and tested and it was found to be benign. shes back to her normal self again now. i hope its just nothing with your cat too

We had to have our cat Cindy put down a couple of years ago, we took her to the vets as she stopped eating and started losing control of her bowels and shed be lying peacefully then suddenly let out a scream and raise her back end in the air. She was about 14 years old.

The vet said that whatever the problem she was in a lot of pain and any exploratory operation could kill her as she was very weak, she really wasnt well. We agreed to take her back the next day and spent the whole time spoiling her rotten and giving her oodles of love and attention.

When it came to having her put down the vet was very sensitive and it was done with the upmost respect and dignity, then we took her home and buried her in the garden with her toys.

It was sad, but we had the chance to say goodbye properly and we knew it was the best thing to do for her.
