Hi ladies,

I thought I'd pop a quick post in here, for those ladies expecting baby number 2 after a difficult first birth experience.

My first labour was an induction, that took 3 pessaries, artificial rupture of membranes, a distressed baby, forceps delivery, a haemorrhage and quite sever anaemia for some time after. Total time from first pessary for birth was 29hrs.

I was worried about giving birth again, especially when I realised I had to be induced again. This time, however, despite my body nit being ready again, my labour was started by them breaking my waters, and then augmented with the syntocinon drip. From first contraction to baby being born was 4hrs. I didn't need gas and air until I was 7cm dilated, and pushed out a 9lbs4 baby without assistance, even though she had her hand up by her face! I got immediate skin to skin, breatsfed within 30mins, and despite some repair work in theatre, the whole experience was a million times better! And I am recovering much better as well.

All Labour's e different, but I went in to birth number 2 feeling very negative, and had a much better experience than expected. My 5 night hospital stay for number 1 was just 1night for number 2.

Good luck to all of you waiting- it can be a really positive experience, and the end result is so worth it. :)

Wow it's like you have put my first birth experience into writing! Sorry that you had a bad first time too & well done for doing a fab job!

I'm hoping for it to go much more smoothly this time round, going in with a positive mind! Skin to skin & a hospital stay of less than 5 days this time is everything I long for haha!

Many congratulations on your new little bundle :D

That's wonderful to read. Thank you and congratulations xx
