Had our 6 week check. Albert has found his right nut which is really good :)

But he also has a heart murmur indicating a hole in his heart! I have to watch to see if he goes blue or stops breathing when lying down flat (and the gp thinks I'll be able to sleep??? his moses basket is sloped anyway and she said that's fine) and I have to feed him propped up as much as I can, stopping breathing during a feed with the murmur he has also indicates a hole apparently. Being referred for a scan, so will know more then. The gp said not to worry......yeah right

My little brother had one at birth! He's now a 7 y/o bruiser! I know it's hard but please try not to worry too much!!!

My sister has one too & she is 8 although they never detected hers til she was a year or so also OHs brother has one too & he's 16 & had it from birth,I know its easier said than done but try not to worry yourself xx

:hugs: i'm sure all will be ok hun, try not to panic although i know easier said than done :hugs: xx

My god daughter had a bit of a murmur, but when she was scanned and checked properly there was nothing to be found. I am sure he'll be fine.

oh BB :(

i dont know anything about it at all, im not gonna say dont worry cause you will- but you can see yourself hes a healthy happy baby :) so focus on that til the scan. you've just gotta take it one step at a time- the scan could be fine! but you wont know til it happens. if its bad news then at least they know about it and can do everything they can to help!!

PM me if u wanna chat sending you and bertie loads of love and hugs xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Sorry to hear this :-(. Sending you lots of hugs. Really want to say try not to worry, but know that's much easier said than done. Hope you get the scan quickly so you'll know more then. Xx

Big hugs! Not nice news to get. :( but think they sometimes heal up on their own? If not I think careful management means they don't have to be a big risk to LOs health. But you're right, I'd be worrying like buggery! What about an angelcare monitor to keep an eye on breathing and help ease your mind at night?

Awww I know it's worrying. I was told the same thing about Cameron at his 6 week check. He had to go back a month later to the paediatrician and it was nowhere to be found. Normally these things disappear very quickly so hopefully he'll out grow it soon x

Hope you can take comfort in the fact it hasn't gone un-noticed. Have you got an angelcare or something? They give good peace of mind.

Thanks ladies . I just feel sick even though he's fine in himself. I suppose this is what these checks are for and I'd still rather know and get it sorted if need be and if the gp was really worried then we would be up the hospital now. Just hate the thought of anything being wrong with him!

My poor little chicken went mad when she checked his nuts lol

Oh no BB, so sorry to hear this, can't imagine how you are feeling. Can't believe they didn't pick it up sooner too.

Is your gp not even referring you to a specialist just to get it confirmed etc? xxx

Edit- sorry BB ignore me, I actually double checked and still totally missed thr line about the scan referral :wall2:

Sorry to read this hun. Great that it is being checked out now though and you know about it and can get him the best help.

Aww I am really sorry to hear this honey, I am sure he will be absolutely fine and the docs will make sure he is well looked after and seen to now they know what the problem is xx

Sending you big hugs x x

My firend is going through this with her new born at the minute but the gp's have told her not to worry as it is not uncommon.

Thanks ladies

None of us slept that well, mainly thanks to the OH who every noise Albert made told me he didn't sound right. Even his farts were sounding different apparently . Feeling calmer today, he's not in imminent danger just have to watch him closely when feeding. I had been planning to get the OH to feed him in the evenings but that's out of the window :(. Oh well, when we get the all clear the OH won't know what hit him lmao xxxxxxx

Awwww that sounds like a plan bb! You poor thing, it must be so stressful, but I'm sure you'll get the all clear. Big hugs to you xxxxx

awww bless you both...

it is very common and quite often heals itself but i can imagine it is very worrying...

:(

def invest in an angelcare monitor if you dont already have one...great peace of mind

:) xx

Heart murmurs can sometimes be nothing I had a scan a few years ago and doctor told me my heart was fine and probably just caused by a fever also newborns sometimes have them from birth and it just disappears, id try not to worry until you know whats happening x
