It's just been turned back on but we've had nothing since just before lunchtime yesterday untill about 45 mins ago....Nightmare!!!A mini tornado came through and tore down some power lines...but honestly 24 hours to fix them!

Thankfully we have a wood stove, so I've been boiling water etc..on that for coffee and had even started making a casserole on it for dinner tonight..but thank goodness, the power's back. To make matters worse, because we're very rural, all our water comes from a water tank (which collects rainwater) but the pump to get it from the tank into the house is powered by electricity so we've had no water either!!!!

I just wouldn't have hacked it back in the dark ages!! :)

What a total nightmare, and a mini tornado wow!!! We never get them in this country. Oh actually saying that I'm sure i remember maybe we have had a couple of mini tornados here, or an i imagining it lol xxx

It was dire :)
I'm used to the tornados, earthquakes and everything else we get - they don't bother me too much, but it's the first time our power's been out for this long.

Going to invest in an emergency generator I think - 24 hours is way too long to go without internet access nevermind anything else!

Oh thats awful :( I think we have had mini tornadoes here and also earthquakes but its rare. Id love a wood stove :) Hope youre ok :) X

God yeah i agree, 24 hours is ages to go without electric, i go mad if we have a power cut (usually due to work men digging up yet another road lol) for ten mins lol xxx

We have the same problem as we have a water tank, if our electric goes then we have no water either ... We have so many power cuts in the winter as we have bad electricl storms but thankfully only a few hours at a time. We did go 4 days without elctorc or water a couple of years ago though.. it was in august aswell so it was about 40c outside. Had to go to friends for showers but couldnt sleep as had no fans etc.
