My little one has his injections on Friday I'm quite worried to how he's going to react. I have calpol to give after due to the men b vaccine causing babies to have a fever. Is there anything else I need? Also how did your little ones react to their injections?

That's all you need, I think I had to take it with me to give the first dose straight away. My lo slept a lot the rest of the day and was a bit out of sorts but was getting back to his usual self by the next day x

My ds just had his today. Calpol given straight away and he has had X2 more doses through out the day. He had a terrible crying session that lasted 45 min which, I'm sure, was caused by the jabs (he isn't normally a cryer). Then after that he has slept most of the day. Still woke for feeds though. My boy likes his milk!

I'm expecting a bit of a bad night so we shall see ......

Hope your little boy is OK. Lots of TLC from mummy helps xx

My little one was grumpy for a few days, she didn't develop a temperature or anything else though xx

My baby was fine :) no temperature or anything. If anything she slept more after her jabs (she is usually screaming a lot with her silent reflux) . She didn't seem to suffer at all. We did the 3 doses of calpol :).
Got her next set Friday and hoping for the same xx

I honestly don't understand why people would give paracetamol beforehand. I never gave it with the 2 month jabs, temp never got really high after so I just took the wait and see approach and we ever only used it once in 4 years time. Sometimes a bit of raised temperature isn't a bad thing, paracetamol brings it down so the body is going to take more effort bringing it back up and that isn't always a better thing to have.

We got told to do that so that's just what I usually do.
I don't like giving it much but she has had it a few times now because of pain from her silent reflux xxx

Thanks for all your replies.

My lo has been okay better than I thought. Gave him calpol before, after injections he fell asleep, had a few screaming episodes managed to settle him with a bottle and more calpol. Been sleeping most of the day awakes for a bottle & even had a smile from him earlier which was lovely :) got to get through the night yet :eh:

With my older 2 advice was not to give calpol unless very high temps but that was pre-men b vaccine. I got the men.b vaccine privately for them and my then 18 month old got a super high fever - 41 I remember and that was with a dose of calpol about an hour after the injection. Good for them or not, it was bloody scary so when my newborn had the men b vaccine at 8 weeks I most definitely did the recommended 3 doses of calpol.

It's because of the new men b jab which interacts with the others and causes a high temperature. Before this you would only give calpol l if needed x

On the reply above you where babybee said she had it privately at 18 months it seems to be the jab it self that causes high fever x

The nurse who did my lo's said she had been giving the men b jab privately to patients for 2 years before it came in on the NHS and given separately it didn't necessarily cause a high temp. She said however when it is given with others it was highly likely to cause a high temperature as they interacted x
