1cm dialated!!

Well I have just been to see my O.B for my weekly check up and told her that I was feeling sorry for myself with having a cold and cankles the size of baby elephants and that I have been feeling twingy all weekend. She advised that she did an internal to check my cervix and then shocked me by saying that my cervix was nice and soft and starting to open up at 1 cm. I asked what that meant and she basically would not commit to anything and just said that I had better prepare myself as it could happen at any time, but not to get my hopes up as equally could take anyther 2 weeks!! Anyone ever experience this with a second child? and if so, realistically how long should it take for the onset of labour once the cervix begins to dialate?!

Far out, Ive been feeling a bit weird today too - am seeing my MW at 4pm, perhaps she will check my cervix for me..

I dont have any advice hun other than keep your hospital bag close by! Good luck, keep us posted xx

Thanks guys, I dont know whether it is all in my head now and that I am getting myself worked up, but I'm still getting twinges and I 'just don't feel right' but am ok if that makes any sense!!

I watch a lot of YouTube videos and a girl on their had a similar thing and the next thing she knew she was 5cm dilated and hadn't felt any pain at all!

By the time the pain kicked in she was almost done and everything went fine.

She considered herself lucky

With second plus babes ladies can be 2 ccm dilated fro weeks before birth - but like your mw said it could alwso be a sign that things will happen soon - especially after and interneal as it kinda stirsthings up down there!
