So I've just seen this online (was originally looking for advice on heartburn but stumbled across this.....) Partner can feel baby move at 19 weeks? Really? I can only just feel it move and the last time it was energetic was 3 days ago, had the odd little 'pop' since then, but nothing compared to the other day. In the notes from the midwife it says if movement stops or reduces to go and get a scan and seek advice, I rang up 2 days ago to be told (bare in mind I was still classed as 18 weeks 2 days ago) to be told that "some women don't feel movements at this stage" yet when you read the notes it implies that when you feel them they should be regular enough or at least everyday. Confused.com!!!!!!! Xx

Don't worry hun I used to feel a fair bit of wriggling (am 19 weeks) and now don't feel as much at all, I think after about 24 weeks is when it's meant to start having some sort of a pattern or happen more frequently, I certainly wouldn't worry about it now xo

I couldn't feel mine until20 weeks, was far later for my hubby to feel. They never really became regular either, manic days and sleepy days. Is confusing, stressed me out no end. You'll get yo know your baby tho and what's normal for them. Then anything outside of normal for you I'd question. Other than that they're all so different xx

19 weeks is really early for your partner to be able to feel anything. I didn't feel any movement at all at 19 weeks with my second (I finally felt little kicks around 22 weeks) and both times, my OH couldn't feel our baby kicking until much later - I'd say around 26 weeks or so? I used to have manic kicking sessions with both of them, but as soon as I got OH to try feeling, they'd stop!

Don't worry, everyone is different and every baby is different. As Lyllian says, once you start getting regular kicks, you'll soon know what's usual for your baby. My son used to have quiet days and really manic ones too. But yes, 19 weeks is TOO early to establish any kind of pattern, let alone have your partner be able to feel the baby kick.

I can't remember when I got them with my daughter, it was 2007 when I was pregnant with her and was working quite long hours so I think the early movements I didnt really feel due to being busy pottering around. I was pregnant last year but it stopped developing at 6 week, didn't find out till 8 weeks in, had D&C, now this one. I honestly don't think I would so anxious this time round if I didn't have the missed miscarriage last year. If I could just feel one little teeny 'pop' I'll be fine and will relax, I've been drinking cold water, orange juice, eaten, lay down for a few hours, had a walk, had a little poke and nothing. I'm hoping mate later I'll get a little pop xx

I didn't feel movement until around 20weeks. I am 23 weeks today and only feel the odd movement everyday. Partner hasn't felt anything yet, and even when I do feel something I put my hand on my belly and it stops. I wouldn't worry hun as I literally only felt the first movements about 3 days before my scan, I was scanned at 20+2. I only feel him move once or twice everyday at the moment xxx

With my last pregnancy I didn't feel movement on the outside of my stomach until 23 weeks, I didn't notice a pattern until around 21 weeks. Then again, I didn't know I was pregnant until 21 weeks so that might explain why!

I didn't feel movement until after 20 weeks. The MW told me that they didn't monitor movements and changes in them until after 26 weeks. I don't think it was until then that my OH felt kicks.

Been to midwife this morning due to frying my own head lol, she used that hand held machine (forgot the name, doh!) and she found the heartbeat and told me everything is fine. She told me to follow the fetal movement notes in the pregnancy folder but they don't make sense to me, all they say is if your movements reduce or patterns change to go and see midwife/gynae ward (even though she told me some people don't feel them at this stage) so you can see why she confused me lol. I've got my 20 week scan this Friday, I'm hoping I feel something before then!
Charlotte, I've a friend who only found out she was pregnant at 5 months plus with all 3 of hers, you sound very similar to her!! Xxx

I was told you should worry about reduced movements only after 24 weeks. Before that it's not that regular (and they can't do anything anyway)... Do you know by any chance of you have an anterior placenta? If you do, you will feel less movements in any case x

I asked about my placenta at a scan at 17 weeks (I had a few more scans due to mmc last year). All she said was it's fine, so I'm guessing it means it's not anterior but I could be wrong lol. If they were reduced I wouldn't be as worries, it was because I've not had any since Thursday evening, a few that have made me go "was that a movement" but none that have made me go "ah, hello" if that makes sense lol xx

I'm 18 weeks and haven't felt a thing yet. I had hoped by this point I would be feeling little kicks. I can't wait til I do and even more so to be able to share the experience with OH!

Bev I was also told that my placenta is 'fine', but in my notes I read that it's anterior. I think they still class it as 'fine' though :) do you have notes from your scan? It should have this info there somewhere.

Have you tried making your baby move? I think there are some tricks you can do, like drinking fizzy drinks or rolling around or smth like that lol? Sorry can't quite remember.

Though in any case as the Doppler picked up the hb, then it's all fine :) probably the baby just moved to a different position xx

My OH felt baby kick a few nights ago.

I get baby movements more in the evening when I am relaxed and in pj's. Nothing regular yet and undo get a bit panicky if he doesn't wriggle around until late. Ice read that from 24-28 weeks they will become regular and you monitor from then on as some ladies don't feel baby until 24 weeks.

I've ordered a count the kicks band and their site says monitor from 28 weeks xxxx

Chazabell, I'm due the same day as you, im guessing you're 19+1? Do you get movement every night? I've just eaten half a tub of ice cream and 2 pints of water to try and get a flutter but nothing :( xx
