Well as the title suggests im a bit worried. This is my fourth child and surely I should be feeling some sort of movements by now? Im starting to panic, imagining something might have happened after my first scan - previous to this pregnancy i had a silent miscarrage at 8weeks. Sometimes if i lay on my back i THINK i might feel very light butterflys but they're not very strong and i dont know whether this is just my imagination, my tummy rumbling or the slight pulsatation that u get from your belly/umbilical cord (if u know what i mean)
Those of you who are on your second + pregnancy, was u feeling movements by now? I have my scan on the 15th june x

i was just mooching the forum as a bit bored so i thought i was answer ur q there could be a number of reasons ur not feeling baba placenta in the way baby lying awkward but if ur worried like this please give ur mw a call and maybe ask her to piop by or u can pop by or even go to docs they can all have a listen as its no gd worrying ur self silly, take care and im sure all is fine xxxx

I felt my first move more than this 1! I get a bit worried sometimes too! I'm sure everything will be fine :)

Like jojo said, just get yourself off to your midwife if you're concerned so they can have a listen. This is only my first, but from what I've read about when you feel movements it's different whether it's your first or your fifth and you're not guaranteed to show earlier or feel anything earlier with each pregnancy because of things like placenta position. Don't worry yourself, maybe try a cold fizzy sugary drink to see if it gets anything going, but I'm sure there'll be a reason you're not feeling anything just yet :)
xx

My midwife doesnt listen for babys heartbeat untill 25weeks :-( so in the meantime im just waiting and panacking! Ive read about anterio placentors but if i had this surely they would have picked up on it at my first scan?

I wasn't told my placenta's position at my first scan, but I was told when I had an emergency scan at 18 weeks so you'll find out at your 20 week scan I think.
Is there no way you could ask your midwife for a listen? Or maybe get hold of your own doppler? We got one a couple of weeks ago and it's helped me stay really calm. We got a really good one for £40 on amazon that shows the beats per minute so even if you can't quite hear it properly (which so far we always have) you know it's being picked up.

If you ask your midwife she should do it - she'll write on your notes maternal request x

Buy yours elf a doppler, that way you listen to the heart beat and put your mind at ease.

It could be that you have an anterior placenta which is masking movement x

i might phone my midwife and ask her what she thinks, and if she'll listen for a heartbeat. what im worried about is if they cant find one for some reason then i have to wait another 2 weeks for my scan x I really hope everythings ok x I was thinking bout buying a dopler but i just know id be on it ALL the time x

if you really worried hun you should tell your midwife or go to the hospital hun. I keep getting told if your movements are off come straight in this is my second baby x

I don't think they will refuse to listen to baby's heartbeat etc if you express your concerns.

I had my own fetal heart listening devise (not the doppler kind) and used it whenever I wanted to put my mind at ease - it was very reassuring. I still listen to my bubs at 38 weeks! lol

I'm sure it is just he position of your placenta like the others have said, this can make a big difference to you feeling baby move. I have had both anterior and posterior placentas and definitely noticed the difference

I think they will check the placenta positioning at your 20week scan. But check your notes from scan, does it say anterior or posterior? My babies movements have been very slight, but have now found out its way baby is lying. It's back is facing the outside. So kicking inwards. And looking back at my notes now after googling what they mean, my baby has been like this for a while. Try and not panic tho! But could always phone midwife! I have a Doppler, amazing in this kind of situation. Hope you get A wiggle soon x

if i had a posteria placenta, could this change to an anteria placenta?

I am pregnant with my no 6 and have really noticed how quiet this one is just occasional random pokes nothing like my last who would have regular discos morning , noon and night . I know from my scan at 15 weeks that my placenta is high up the back so it's not that for me .My last was a girl and I am hoping for a boy so I'm putting it down to that. Try not to worry I'm sure they're more than make up for they quiet starts later on . xx

You really need to ring your mw and get her to check for a heartbeat hon because otherwise you're just going to worry yourself sick. As someone else said, it's unlikely she'll refuse when you're concerned.

If you do buy a doppler I would just be aware that they're not all that good - we have a heartbeat monitor and gave up trying with it as we could never hear anything. I'm sure all is well but worrying yourself is just going to make the situation worse, so go and get checked out x

it says on my notes that my placenta is posterior. I might give them a call today and see what they say xx Thanks everyone x

phoned community midwives this morning, spoke to a lovely girl called steff who basically said not to worry, the baby might be facing your spine, so u wouldnt feel the kicks. she also said as its my fourth pregnancy things are alot looser so will be a bit different from my other pregnancys. at this stage she said she wasnt worried but she also said that if im still worried and nothing by next week to call her and go in, and she will listen for a heart beat. x

That must be so reassuring and she sounds lovely and helpful which is always nice. I hope you can feel a little more relaxed now and just wait to start feeling the baby :) xx

Isn't it lovely when you get someone nice and helpful on the phone. I hope she's helped to reassure you and that your able to relax alittle now . As I said I reackon these bubs will make their presence known soon enough and we'll be begging them to calm down again. All the best xx
