Hi,

I have my scan tomorrow. I'm just wondering if anyone can advise me on what happens at the appointment? In particular, do you have a chat with a midwife or consultant after the scan? I am high risk so am under consultant care. I have had a child before but that was 6 years ago and it's amazing how much I have forgotten

Thanks 😃

Hi Dee, usually just have scan with the sonographer. Have they told you that are are seeing the consultant?? I've not had this but my friend did and she used to have booked consultants appointments but these weren't always on the same day as the scan.

Hope it goes well and look forward to seeing your update on the March Mummies thread xx

I saw the consultant after my last two scans and had a check up for bp and urine done by a midwife. I saw the midwife after my 12 week scan, but it should have been a consultant. They'd incorrectly assigned me low risk at my booking.
When I had my first, I didn't see anyone after my scans, but I did have her at a different hospital.

Hi ladies ive been wondering whether i will find out the results from the standard screening tests for downs syndrome etc at the 12 week scan? I know theyll take my blood for this at booking appt but there is 3 weeks between booking appt and scan so was trying to work out when they are likely to feedback on results. I guess being 42 my anxiety around screening is a little higher this time around so keen to find out asap so i can prepare myself.

I got mine in the post as I was low risk last year. They contact you if they need to discuss the results usually xx

Thanks lander. Its just i have a meeting with my manager the day after 12 wk scan so hoping if everything ok that i can tell her. Wasnt sure if they look at blood test from booking appt as well as scan before giving you the results x

The blood test at booking isn't usually for the NT testing but for other things. I've always had the bloods for the testing done after the scan and they them combine the results and will call you within a few days if high risk or you get a letter in the post otherwise within 2 weeks.

Hi ladies,

Thank you for your replies 😃

I saw a midwife before the scan to have blood pressure and weight done and to confirm whether I would like the screenings done. After the scan I had a blood test and if high risk will get a call otherwise will receive a letter. With regards to seeing a consultant, that will be at my 20 week scan appointment.

Will update on my scan with pics on the march mummies thread 😃

That's really helpful thank you ladies. I might rearrange my meeting with my manager as would be good to meet with her once I've had scan and results back. X
