Hi,

All of a sudden my one year is being very fussy. She won't eat tomato soup and bread anymore, no beans on toast. She will only eat certain things like shepherds pie, fish fingers and beans.

Any tips?

She eats every drop every day at nursery, chicken curry, fish pie, EVERYTHING!

P.S I don't give in and give her something else if she doesn't eat it.

Think its a phase hun.
Noahs always loved his food! Until aroubd 13/14ms and from then its hit and miss.
One week he loves everything.. Then he doesnt!
Fruit is our worst atm.
He will only eat water melon or raisins.. No other fruit! but im hoping hell improve.

Annabel karmels sitte has loads of food ideas. I stated making my own fish fingers and chicken nuggets.. He loves both and her recipe is alot healthier than the frozen stuff!
Worth a browse :) xx

I batch cook my own shepherds pie and meatballs, she loves those, but I just don't want her to eat the same stuff every day, I sure you know what I mean :)

Sounds like my two year old. For about 4 months he hasn't really eaten meat/fish but I keep offering it even though I know he won't eat it. Low and behold yesterday he decided sausage casserole is back on the menu lol. Luckily he eats veg and eats apples and grapes and also has multi vitamins every morning. The trick is not to make her diet limited and to still offer her a variety even though you know it'll go to waste or you'll be stuck giving her the same foods everyday. My boys always get a yoghurt after dinner even if they don't touch their meal, we never call it 'pudding' because it's just a part of dinner, that way they don't think 'I'll still get pudding even if I don't eat dinner'. I also wait an hour or so and offer a sandwich as though I'm offering a snack, they get some food in their bellies before bed but don't realise that it's because they haven't eaten their dinner. Hope that makes sense? x

Yes, I do give her something before her bath, to get some food in to her! Even if it just some toast. :)

Thank you :)

My son is awful. I could cry every dinner time. He has his two year check tomorrow and seriously worried about what the HV is going to say! We only offer our food and the only guaranteed winner is spag Bol, pizza or baked beans. Sometime ex he'll eat carrot and he'll eat farm shop cottage pie... but not my home made stuff. It's lamb stew tonight so it'll be another fight :-(

I feel your pain, Rooster. I just made tuna cheesy pasta bake. Nope! Picked the tuna off and that was it :/

I feel your pain too, my two year old is awful at mealtimes. I had to hide my excitement the other night when he ate a sausage lol!

Just thought i'd pass on what my HV said today.

We saw the HV today for my son's 2 year check and he hasn't gained weight at all since she last saw him and that was nearly a year ago! He's dropped from the 75th to the 25th centile. She has put it down to him being constantly poorly for months now. He dropped weight when he suffered his throat and ear infection back in February. He gets a lot of sore throats which mess up eating anyway but is especially worse with fussy eaters. She said we're doing the right thing - eating together, only offering what we eat, if he doesn't eat don't offer pudding and don't make a fuss. I guess what is the redeeming factor for my son is that he does eat his breakfast, lunch and snacks on fruit so he IS eating something.

We've been recommended to ask for a referral to see a paediatrician, though not because of his weight but because he has been constantly poorly since before Christmas - lots of throat, chest and ear infections. At the moment he has yellow puss pouring from both eyes so we're off to the doctor in an hour to see about that. What a stress this all is

Oh, Rooster. That sounds horrible. I hope he gets better soon- fingers crossed! xx

Oh rooster yourself little man sounds like he's in the wars. Hope he gets sorted soon.

I find with my son he'll wolf food down sometimes and others he'll just pick at it. Thankfully he always eats his fruit and veg well! My OH is a fussy eater (honestly the two year old eats better!) and I know it's cos he was pandered to as a child by his mum. So I'm quite strict with our son. He's offered his meal and he gets a yogurt afterwards and that's it.

I think sometimes it's about variety, keep offering different things to keep it interesting. Don't make a fuss if they don't eat something and heap loads of praise on them when they do eat something. Sometimes with my son, it's also about giving him enough time too. We had gammon mash and beans last night, gammon was gobbled down quickly and then he sat for about 15-20 mins before eventually eating the rest. I just make a cuppa now and sit chatting with him at the table waiting on him to finish.

Glad I've seen this post, my LO is going through this atm.
Once over she would eat all sorts but wont entertain anything much now. Yet she will eat anything at nursery but I give her anything they give her and turns her nose up at it. Once she would eat loads of different fruit, now she will only eat grapes. Sunday dinner she would eat a bit of meat/veg/yorkshire pud but will only eat the meat. I was getting upset over this as I thought it was my cooking as I'm not the best cook in the world but I was worry that she may start losing weight but she never lost/over weight all times she has been weighted, when I spoke to my HV she just told me to keep offering it too her and to worry too much, plus keep giving her the vitamin drops every day.
