Lol, urchin!!! your username is famous, isn't it!!! so many websites!
The pics are really cool, and I wonder how old can a baby be to do these underwater pictures!?
When we give Maheen her bath, andsqueeze the sponge on her head, the water runs down her face and she closes her eyes, and you can see she is not THAT comfy! she never cries though, but I think it's just a reflex! close the nose, close the mouth, close the eyes!
me too dionne, I take ella swimming and im petrified of her head going under, I know they are fine underwater but I just think how do they know not to take a breath, what if she swallows water :!:
I have - she instinctively held her breath and was fine with it. Just gave her lots of reassurance afterwards. No tears, no upset. I didn't dunk her fast, just slowly lowered her and brought her back up (faster!).
How old was she when you did it first? I am planning to take maheen to swimming pool this weekend, and was wondering about doing it!
Don't bwant to hurt her!

They do have a holding breath reflex which is strongest up to 6 months. I always test Rubie out by wetting her face then blowing on it, she always gasps then holds her breath, then laughs!! I remember once in the bath I had turned her over to wash her back and when I turned her back round her face was covered in water - yes, her face had been dipping in the water!! But she was fine, she must have held her breath.
But I don't think I would dare put her under water, knowing my luck she would forget to hold her breath or something
Well done to you though Kina, she will be a lot more comfortable on the water if she gets used to it from such a young age.
I go to a waterbabies class and she got us to dunk them under after a couple of weeks- just the once a session though and very quickly. We sing humpty dumpty and on "fall" go under. We also blow bubbles in front of them and she puts rubber ducks in the water which we let them "swim" to. We have these things called woggles which are just foam tubes that we put under their arms and then walk around with them supported underneath. The first week I went I couldn't let go of his arms as I couldn't believe he would float but he did!
I'd love to get some photos like that done- like the front cover of Nevermind! Anyone know where you can find someone local who does them?
took Mahene to the swimming-pool tonight for the very first time!!!
We stayed there for 1 hour and a half! time flew by!
Anyway, Maheen was very brave and seemed so comfy in the water that we put her head underwater, till her eyes, (so not the full head! )
She was fine!!!!!!!!!! did not even cry, did not take any water in, I am so proud of my little girl!!!!!!!
Sorry, no pictures, because it was forbidden!
We enjoyed ourselves, so I think we will take her again soon!
Charlie has been quite a few times and we always dunk him, my husband used to be a lifeguard and would help with the water babies class so he's the one that normally does it, I'm still a chicken! Charlie never cries though, he just looks shocked when he comes back up, bless him
My OH is a water baby and I really want Charlie to be so we've booked a course called little dippers, we do a weekend of training with Charlie so that he can do underwater submerges on his own and then after a couple of weeks practicing we get underwater photo's, I can't wait!
