Two days back at 37 weeks and 5 days(as per LMP) I had my nineth month ultrasound scanning. The report says that the fetus is about 35-36 weeks. The 2 weeks difference was roughly always there in my previous scans. The other readings are
BPD 8.7 cms
HC 30.3 cms
TCD 46.0 mms
AC 31.7 cms
FL 6.7 cms
TL 6.0 cms
HL 5.8 cms
It says 'all long bones correspond to about 33-34 weeks'
That comment makes me worried. Your replies are most welcome

Well law of average with sonography scans / growth scans are all estimated. What appears on the screen isn't always the end result. Quite a few women have had previous scans indicating a reduction or over anticipated growth of their baby but intact has come out quite the opposite of what has been told. I believe "alarm" bells would be rung if a sonographer tells you there and then at the end of a scan that she refers you to a consujtant for further talks. Perhaps that is the point where ones care would be analysed on another scale from a professional / specialist. I hope this helps xx

I have growth scans every two weeks because they're worried baby might be born small.

When I had a growth scan with DS, they told me around 34w that if he made it as far as his due date he'd be around 9lb.
He came bang on 40w at exactly 6lb.

So far this one's measuring on track to be just below 7lb, but, I'm not taking that too seriously.

It's still all just educated guesswork, as the slightest "off" angle can make a huge difference in measurement.

At my last scan (32w) baby was measuring around 28w average.

Try not to let it worry you. If they thought there could be a real problem they'd be doing all kinds of tests and consults etc xx

Thank you for your replies. What concerns me most is the femur and humerus length fall short of the overall 35-36 weeks growth of the baby. The scan report says all long bones correspond to 33-34 weeks. Then the word 'physiological' is added with a question mark and the whole statement is underlined to give it emphasis . I should have asked the sonographer about it then and there. May be tomorrow i should visit the centre again. Anyway reading your replies relieved much of my tension.

hi hun, i had regular scans with my twins, both their femurs measured a few weeks behind i think at my 30 week scan one babies legs measured 24-26 weeks, they both just had little legs but the rest of them measured around a week behind but they were on the small side anyways being twins with a shared placenta, if there were any real urgent concern they would have had you see a consultant after your scan hun xxx

My babies always measure with small legs! Hubby has short legs ( looks awful in a mans suit!) and my poor boys have the same issue!! The two eldest have now since got much taller legsx

Thanks everyone. A baby girl was born to us two weeks back. She is healthy. A bit small, may be inheriting my height, that is all : )

Brilliant news and so glad she's healthy most of all x

Ahhh congratulations to you on your daughter, what did she weigh ? And how many weeks was she at birth?

Glad she is lovely and healthy x
