hi girls,

just looking for a bit of advice really.
my midwife thought my baby was breech @ 37 weeks, so she referred me to a consultant at the hospital.
..... and yes she sure was breech, confirmed by a scan!
the consultant gave me the option to turn the baby, which i declined as iam totally not comfortable with that.. also, only has 50/50 chance of working.

so, c-section booked for friday 24th oct! ill be 39 weeks.

is there a chance she could turn between now-and 39 weeks???

i have midwife app at 38 weeks which she will have a feel.
iam just so worried that i will get to the c- section day and they will send me home becouse baby has turned.. iam prepareing myself and getting a little less nervous about the procedure each day.

thanks in advance!!

xxxxxx

Hi, I couldn't vote on the poll as my daughter never turned, she remained breech and was delivered by section at 39 weeks. I went into hospital the day before and they had a feel around and confirmed that she was still breech, so the next day I went in for a section. I was like you, by the time it was all booked in, once I knew a date I just wanted her to stay in the same position. I'm not saying having a section is easy, it's not, but it's not something to worry yourself about too much. Just take it easy afterwards. Good luck. :D

thanks for your reply ... you prepare in your head what is to come dont you. the thought of being sent home on the day would be dreadfull, ild rather know b4 hand. arghhhhh wish i could see my m/w every day from not to 24th lol

feel like iam in limbo ... xxxx :wall:

I could not vote as there was not a no option.

Its highly unlikely a baby will turn at any of those dates hun.
They say baby is unlikely to turn after 34 weeks.
I would prepare for a c-section
I had a c-sction with my first and its really not that bad hun.
You will go in and be numbed(this was the nervous bit for me due to needle phobia) then they will lay you down , put up a screen and get baby out.
Once baby is out they'll stitch you up and you'll be put in recovery room.
You will feel uncomfy for a while due to being cut open but its not horrendous, you manage.

Hope thats of som help hun
Its really not that bad hun.

Best of luck.

As we know, anything is possible with these babys...

However, mine never turned... C-section was only option as the stoopid consultant said baby had turned, but didnt scan to check - he hadnt, she was just an idiot.

Waters broke, so there was no hope of turning him. Have they not said they will try turning her for you?!

thanks girls for your advice.

they did offer to turn the baby ..... but i refused. ive read far to many nightmare stories on the net about how much it hurts, and it could bring on labour ending in a emergency c section. and its only 50/50 chance of working.

i didnt want to put me or my baby through that... the way i look at it is if she wants to turn she will of her own accord, everything happens for a reason!

i just cant wait to meet her .... getting really excited and impatient now.

I'm sure everything will be fine. It looks like you will be having a section. Try and do something nice the night before to mark the occassion. We had a special meal and it was lovely. It felt really weird on the morning we went into hospital to have my DD, knowing that in a few hours I would be holding my baby. When I went up to theatre, I couldn't stop crying, the theatre staff said my behaviour was completely normal.

Take care of yourself.

bexie...... thats what we planned to do. me,oh and ds are going to harvester for a nice meal the night before. our last night out together before our new addition.

ive been told i cant eat or drink after midnight- :? iam going to be soooo thirsty. lol i just hope there isnt emergenceys before me.

iam very scared... i have brave days were iam not bothered. iam going to be a nervous wreck on the day we go in. sounds selfish but i hope iam first... so its over and done with and of course i get to meet my little girl :cheer:

how long was you in hospital for? they advised me 3 days

Tia was breech right up to 36+6 and then turn in her own right.... but like you I was all set for a csection, which I didn't get in the end because she turned.. But after 37 weeks its unlikely... Fingers crossed though things go to plan and are easy for you

i didnt vote in the poll coz my baby turned just before 37 weeks. after going for a private gender scan at 33 weeks and told she was breech, i was doing everything to encourage her to turn, and by 36 weeks i became disheartened as they thought she was still breech. i gave up hope and consigned myself to a c section, especially as i'd heard first babies get into position really early on so i thought there was no chance of her turning this late. ironically, just after i'd given up hope, she turned! there is always hope! and no harm in trying all the stuff i did (sitting leaning forward, knees below hips level, sleep on left side, accupressure) good luck x x x

I went in on the Friday morning and after asking to go home on the Monday and some ooming and ahhing from the midwives they let me go home on the Monday. I had a fever while I was in that's why they were unsure if I should be let home or not.

I'm not sure if it's the same for all hospitals, but when I arrived in the morning for my op, I was told that there were three operations booked for the morning session and any ops which involved children (unborn babies included) were treated as a prioity, so we arrived at 7am, and by 8.30am I was up in theatre, by 9.15 by DD was born.

I'm sure on the day you have the operation you will have such a strong range of emotions, I just couldn't stop sobbing when I was being prepped in theatre, I couldn't beleive myself getting so emotional as I'd had 9 months to prepare myself for becoming a mother and now it was actually happening I felt really scared. Looking back, having the operation itself didn't really scare me.

I hope it all goes well for you honey. xx

My son turned at 36 weeks, so a bit earlier than your poll. It's not unheard of for babies to turn later (my little brother was breech until his due date, then turned and still stayed in for another 3 weeks!) but pretty uncommon as far as I can tell.

Hope she stays/turns however you want now, not long to go either way!
