Why won't they scan me?!

Hi guys, i'm really concerend about this... i've been to the drs who has t old me i won't have/need a scan until the 18-20 weeks of pregnancy? Now i've had two children already and each time i had 12week and 20 week scan, i actually had 2 extras , later on, as i had complications. It was in a different part of t he Uk to where i am now, as well. I would like a 12 week scan so they can check everything is ok, and so we can see the baby's heartbeat and just see the little person growing inside of me. Has anyone else had this problem? I rang the midwife suite wednesday, to try and arrange for a midwife as i've not seen on yet, and they told me they'd call me within 48 hours. Its now sat morning and i've not heard anything. That's not good is it? ! arghhh stress! x

I couldn't remember which of my kids (a while ago, youngest is 8) that I had this problem with before
I had two boys at Basingstoke and then 1 girl at reading after we moved, and I was looking through my old notes of my girl (last baby from 2002) and it turns out to be reading that didn't seem to scan me at 12 weeks I had only scan photos at 20 weeks and much later 4/6 weeks before due which I think was sizing scans as they said I was small for dates- she was just smaller 5lb 15 oz in the end.

I Mc this time round, and was going to have a nuchal 12/13 week scan as I am 36 now, but still got my scan dates through and they only actually gave me a scan for 19/21 weeks in may?

Some areas do this, and 20 weeks is such a long time to wait to know all is well, If I get pregnant again and they don't offer me one for the nuchal thing , I will pay private to have one for peece of mind,

not all areas offer screening at 12weeks the 12wk scan is not for seing hb its for cheacking fr downs but as said not all areas do this id speak to midwife and say you want nechual testing im very lucky i said i didnt want to be tested but am getting a scan anyways def push for what you want

the 12 week scan is a dating scan where i live. its very unfair 2 have this scan in some areas and not in others! plus it gives u a more accurate due date especially 4 women with very irregular periods like me! i thought i was 4 weeks further than wot i was so this scan was very helpful! have u looked in2 a private early scan? think they r around 70 pounds tho xxx

There are quite a few areas that dont offer a dating scan. It's a bit crappy really when it's such a long time to wait. You can get a reassurance scan for around £50 is you shop around

I had a 12 wk scan to date the pregnancy and a 20 wk to check all ok. I didn't know that some areas of the UK don't do the 12 wk scan. How do they date you otherwise, isn't that the only way to get the EDD?

Very unfair as of course you want a scan. Hope you get to have one and you sort your midwife out.
