Thank you both
Minxy, OH is really slim and I
used to be
When Josh was a baby he had that chubbiness that most babies do, and with Ryan being quite heavy at birth I assumed he would be the same, but he's got nothing on him! He's never had a big appetite but he does eat and drinks *just* enough milk.
I think I'll go to the clinic and see the HV next week and have a chat with her
sorry hun just seen this....
i have just read ur above post and can i just say that its music to my ears as christopher is the same. he was very heavy at birth as u can see from my sig
he was very very chubby and very long too but now although he is tall he is very slim as is my OH. christopher had bad reflux as a young baby and although ryan doesnt, this set christopher back alot with his weight gain he has always been around the 25 centil at one point he was way below it for a llong time as he just would not eat or barley had milk as it caused him so much pain .
now at 16 mnths he stil can be fussy with food, still is not eating hardly any finger food as reflux causes him to gagg more then a non-reflux baby but as my consultant told me last appointment..as long as he is well, is not getting frequant illnesses (never gets any) and is a happy , lively child then he is thriving well.
last weight in for christopher finally topped him well over 25 centile..consultant advised me to feed high calorie foods to improve weight gain so we have been doing so the last few months and he has put alot of weight on recently and looksmuch better..he is also eating me out of house and home too so im not sure if the weight boost has increased hiis appetite
i have a good selection of high cal foods u can give him most of them are things like yougurts ...if i can help u with this them PM me hun.
also as my consultant said and he comes over from alder hay hospital and is very very good..he said to me that he monitors christopher for his reflux..(even tho his weight is more of a concern to me) and that he doesnt really see him for his weight as they dont do this unless they are "failure to thrive" - malnurished, lathargic and constantly ill because they are not getting enough nutrition in the diet. so i dont think a consultant would do much UNLESS the HV is so worried that she referes u both to a consultant . we had so much hasstle gettin in with out consultant as he is a peadiatric gastrologist ..but as i say he is not botherd about the weight as he is such a happy child .
i know how worried u must be..i have battled with this for 13 months and only now is he getting chunky again..but thats due to the boost of high calorie food...pm me fopr a list if u like . sorry this is long
