SO ladies this is my own fault obvs, but I had one left I'm on CD 5 Only bled for three days which is unusual for me, have left hand cramps this morning and also my temp is still up with its post ov temps.

So I had a clear blue easy, and thought hey it'll satisfy my POAS addiction.

So, took the test, immediately blue thick line! now 've had lines in these before but not this blue or quick, literally as soon as the dye passed over it. within about 30 seconds. So thought, hmmmm best take a frer to make sure. And guess what? BFN. Why are these tests out there?

It's my own fault for using it yes but why are they so unreliable? And to top it all off the FRER has a horrible indent!

Does any one else always get a positive plus?

Sorry for the rant ladies! Very annoyed and needed to vent. :wall2:

Hey you. It's probably just my eyes but I can't see anything on any of them I'm sorry. That said, I know they really don't show as well on camera for some reason.

Do remember that there really isn't any such thing as a false positive. It has to pick up hcg at some level in order to turn colour and it will only be an evap line if the test is dry...has evaporated. If the urine hasn't evaporated yet and the line is visible within the time limit, there is hcg present in your urine.

This could be similar to my situation where I'm not sure if I was just spotting or had an early mc and v light period. It takes time for the hcg to leave the system and it can weeks. It can be caused by blood in the urine and a few other reasons, but most likely is residual hcg or miraculously (as I'm hoping) still pregnant.

I really feel for you, it's so frustrating, I have totally lost faith in the blue dye tests as heard so many bad things about them. I did get a faint positive off a clearblue last week but I'm not going to bother with them again.

Your temps will stay up in pregnancy as well so bear that in mind and I know it's impossible not to, but try not to overthink too many things.

(((hugs))) xx

Haha yea,

Ugh I know its so blooming annoying! It cant be an EVAP because the line came up strong within about 20-30 seconds! And I cant have HCG surely because the frer is a BFN lol! god, why do I do this haha! Ive had AF, but just thought I should just incase and now this!

So bloody annoying!

I really don't like the blue dye tests at all. I have zero faith in them. There can easily be discrepancy between tests so I would try not to read much into it.

Me either I never trust them! Now Im just mad for wasting a frer! haha

Thanks hun xx

Yes its an expensive do really, I absolutely have spent a small fortune over the last couple of years.
I do think its so addictive because there's always those women who miraculously were pregnant and still had periods, bled heavily and were still pregnant or even never realised they were pregnant until they went into labour!
I do think the pregnancy test industry has got it down to a fine art to maximise the profits.
I mean, how much does a single test cost to make? And we pay up to £10 each.
It's ok if you get a positive, go away for 9 months and give birth, but us long term ttcers should have a discount card!

My friend did one test, positive, never even occurred to her to do another one. She's due in a few weeks you know what, I am so glad she's had an easy run as her family is all in Brazil and I can't imagine having to deal with the difficulties and heartache with your family so far away, so I am praying that she continues to have a very easy time.

She said I was mad for testing again, but when I explained, she changed her view...she just had no idea of the other side of it.

It is maddening and I do totally agree, the test industry has us hooked.

:wall2:It certainly does ladies!

Yeah, there's always those stories!

I know im not pregnant because ive had AF :wall2:

But I just cant get over how convincing those CB easy's are!

I find it hard because on here, people will say the tests should be getting darker, but every professional I have spoken to has said that it just doesn't always work like that. Yes, it's normal, but lines coming and going should not be read into. Worst here is that I can't just go and get bloods done and I'm not paying for that. Best I can hope for is that I am still getting lines at the end of next week and then hopefully MW will refer me to the EPU for an early scan just to see if there's anything in there still or to confirm that my spotting was actually a miscarriage.

Time will tell for all of us. xx

Yes! I get what you mean, my surgery dont do bloods either, which is annoying!

Hi, that's the clearblue test where a cross comes up in the window if it's positive isn't it? I can't see the cross, I'm really sorry.

I know everyone says these tests are really unreliable but I've never had any issues with them, they've given me clear positives when I've been pregnant and nothing when not. Pink dye do seem to be the most popular though.

Best of luck.

I do remember in my last full term pregnancy I didn't get a faint positive on a test till 5+ weeks. I think it depends on each of our own bodies. Buts that's why I always do the early tests at first.
My dr doesn't offer bloods either, I had early scan last time at epu xx

I hear that a lot. If I'm still pregnant it would explain my tests as I'm 5w 1d now so...makes me wonder if there was just a surge on 8dpo to give such good lines back then.

Feeling very pregnant today. Need breakfast but not at all confident about what to have, waves of mild nausea all morning. X

I would imagine that initially there must be a surge of hormones to kick the body into pregnancy gear, then the body will decide whether the pregnancy is viable and potentially healthy and proceed to lose or keep. I suppose if we find out early but our bodies decide the pregnancy isn't a healthy one then Af arrives albeit a little heavier or later.
So I suppose eventually if the pregnancy is progressing and our bodies are secreting hcg into our urine we should get a certain positive line on a test.
But that said if our kidneys dont function as well as they should im not sure whether it would affect amount of hormones in urine. Have to investigate.
I know that in pre menopausal women or menopausal women the pituitary gland makes more of certain hormones which can result in positive tests and also in women with liver problems. But my medical knowledge is nil I just googled false positive tests and got a list of reasons apart from pregnancy.
Obviously being 35 myself I wondered if I was pre menopause early, but who knows its all a guessing game till scan evidence really xx

Yep, I'm turning 39 in November so have had those same thoughts.

Fx for us al xxx

Unfortunately these tests do sometimes show lines with blue colour when you are not pregnant, but they are normally a lot thinner than the control line - I've had this loads of times and I def wasn't pregnant on any of the occasions. I contacted clear blue once and they said the line needs to be as thick as the control line to be positive, and if not the test is faulty. I'd personally also stay away from 'line' tests and use a digital when you'd be far enough along to get a positive (generally from day of missed period) as they are not subjective and show you are either pregnant or not. Best of luck, the ttc rollercoaster is a rough ride xx

I can see a faint line on the clear blue 1s but I had this last month sorry hun. I was so hopeful it was the start of something positive but for me they must have been evaps. Hopefully it'll be something positive for you tho xx
