... We are so bored. kenzo and I are just so, so, so bored. I am really down. I didn't think 2009 was going to start this way. I haven't been working much because my services "wern't needed over the christmas period" Which means I am broke. Husband goes to work all day and honestly, I have ran out of things to do to entertain Kenzo. I don't even have money to take him to the local playcentre. I really wish he could start going to nursery so he can meet other babies and learn stuff, and I can work full time so I can make more money.
I feel like a such failure because Kenzo seems so bored with his toys and doing the same activities over and over again.

:(

Are any of you in the same position as us?

I went through exactly the same when ethan was kenzo's age we lived in a secluded area and the local transport was quite expensive my husband worked full time and i didn't know many people in the area which made it harder so i started to go to a mother and baby group but as i didn't know anyone it made me feel very uncomfortable so i stopped going.

We had a very poor christmas this year as my husband lost his job back in august and its been very hard as he is unable to find work.

don't think you are alone i know exactly how you feel

I'm sorry to hear this  and thanks for your reply. I guess I just have to be content with what I have at the moment. Kenzo might not understand why but he will when he grows up!

Sorry to hear :(

I don't know how much your local playcentre charges but we go to a couple of church run playgroups each week and they only ask 50p per time. I'm not religious nor do I ever attend either of the churches but the playgroups are decent. Might be worth looking at the local churchs and halls in the area and seeing if they have any play sessions. I found these via word of mouth and lots of the same Mums attend them. we also have a playdate with one of the other Mums now and so Galen gets to go play with someone elses toys once a week and vice versa.

Most of the kids at the ones I go to are all under 2, a few a bit older and none of 3. Lots of toddlers and smaller babies too. Parents are responsible for their children but the ladies who run them always do biscuit and drink time half way through for all the kids and Mums can have a drink also.

Anything at a SureStart centre near you? Or a drop in HV clinic each week that also has a bit of a playgroup and Mums meet thing going on?

Also check your local library. I go with Galen once a fortnight and get some new books out for him. Usually about 10 a time. Often we just spend an hour there looking at books before choosing some, he also crawls around the kids section and there are often other Mums with children there to, so you can chat and pass a bit of time that way. Plus its free :)

I started going swimming with Daniel twice a week to our local swimmingpool. They charge £2.50!!! for one visit including baby! Bargain!

Is Kenzo mobile now?

If so I can highly recommend Heuristic Play. It's the action of using everyday objects to explore and manipulate. Nothing that your LO does is right or wrong, it's just all about discovering the way things work and what you can do with them!

You can google it, or if you are stuck I have loads of ideas, so PM me!

aaaw thanks everyone for the kind responses and ideas. Hubby left some money for me to take kenzo to the local play centre. I will also check out what the local churches offer. I really want kenzo to start meeting other kids without looking at them like they're aliens! he really isn't used to playing with other children, bless him.
thanks again everyone

Hiya hun,

Have a look on Netmums.com.. they have a list of baby and toddler groups etc.. near you and they should only charge a small donation (about £1) Im going to start them soon.
