Which car seat is the best?

Hi. I'm now 6 months and we're starting to look for a first car seat, but there are just so many! Is everyone else having this problem?

I just wanted to know how other people are deciding?

Are they all as safe as each other, or should I be going for a particular type of seat? Where can I go for advice?

Any help from wise heads gratefully received!

Would recommend going to a big baby store like mothercare/babies r us, whatever is around by you. Have a look at which ones fit into travel systems if that's what you're going for... or otherwise just pick one you like. Always ask them to try it in your car because once you've bought it you can't take it back, and some cars fit some carseats and not others.

I'm not up on the safety, but I assume they must all have to conform to a certain standard... they wouldn't sell something like a baby carseat if it was in any way unsafe.

I have the maxicosi carseat, because it came in the same colours and attached to my Quinny Buzz system. I don't have a picture of the carseat on my Buzz, but this is the carrycot on it, and I got the carseat in this colour.

according to which? the maxicosi is the safest one you can get, but you should have the base unit with it too. xx

not all cars can accept the isofix so you'll have to check that out either on the car seat manufacturer website, the baby store, or your car manufacturer

I have the maclaren recaro. It fits on my buggy but I also thought that it was a good familliar name associated with driving safely. It can be fitted onto isofix but unfortunately my car is not compatible. It works just as well without.
