Just wondering when i should start expressing milk and storing it in the freezer? and when can i start giving it to baby in a bottle? dont want to disrupt my breast feeding because its going really well, but i find that at night he wants to feed constantly and i feel as though im not produicng enough to satisfy him. By the morning my breasts feel full again and he seem satisfied...... any advice please????

I think the advice is to try and wait 6wks before you start expressing to let your milk come in properly.

When you start expressing try doing it in the morning as thats when you'll have most milk and don't be alarmed if you only get tiny amounts off to begin with, after a week or so you'll be expressing like an expert! Just express for 5-10 minutes the first few times you do it and gradually build up the amount of time you do it for.

Good luck :D :D

but i find that at night he wants to feed constantly and i feel as though im not produicng enough to satisfy him.

Don't worry, this is completey normal, as long as he is latched on properly. You will be producing enough milk and if he's hungry he'll demand it! Just go with it, this initial period is all about getting your milk supply sorted, make sure you are drinking and resting lots. :D

thanks for your help fluffy bunny!

I will hold out a few more weeks then before i try expressing any milk.

I agree with fluffy bunny, it sounds like you are doing just fine :D

Oh, just remembered another thing!

When you start expressing try the tommee tippee closer to nature bottles, they are meant to be the ones that most closely resemble taking from the breast. I used them and got on really well with them.

Good luck :D

thanks for the tip.... im living in spain, not sure if i can get them here. might try ordering on the internet!

I starting expressing at about 4 weeks regularly, but did a bit before then (about 3 weeks) to try LO with a bottle. She took to it fine, but a few friends of mine have struggled to introduce a bottle, the baby taking it when very young but then rejecting it later, so once she gets the idea, I would give her one regularly (we did once or twice a week) so LO remebers what to do. I use avent newborn teats, which they recommend for b/f babies, and they have been fine.
