I don't get why you don't discuss earlier than 36 weeks! Seeing as full term is 37 weeks - surely makes sense to have spent a while planning and thinking about it. I have been thinking about it already but would feel a bit calmer and more prepared if the midwife brought up before 36 weeks!
Yes i would have thought it was earlier. I would like to have a water birth but I want to consider my options. I know that things often change depending on your labour but they don't leave you much time! X
I'll be discussing this at my next appointment. It's the 34 week one, I'll be 33+4. MW said that this is normally done after antenatal classes, so ladies have all the info. Not sure what happens to all those who don't bother with classes...
Err my birth plan first time around was discussed at the hospital at 41 weeks when I got admitted to be induced with high blood pressure. I seem to recall it was anything but a c-section.
This time around I've already sorted mine out with the vbac midwife, c-sec in all circumstances! How things change!

My next app is next week when I'll be 36+6 and I'm hoping to have some sort of discussion then.
Personally I think some of the classes happen way to late. They are so keen on bf that it's drilled into you constantly, my bf class was at 29 weeks, the health visitor came out at 31 weeks and talked about bf again and I had another parent craft class at 33 weeks which went through things like routine and skin to skin but labour was never mentioned. I was starting to get worried as I felt I wouldn't have the slightest clue what to do if I went into early labour.
I finally had the labour class at last week at 34+6 and while I do feel a lot better about everything Since leaving the class it's brought up more questions from me and personally I think if I'd been able to have the class earlier I could have asked my questions earlier and Id be feeling much more confident whereas now I'm still really apprehensive
I know labour probably won't go smoothly and any plan I have will go out the window, I'm trying to be chilled but I like to be organised and have an idea in my head
I'm having a home birth and we have been talking about it over my last few appts, its a bit different as obviously I can't have pain relief like at hospital and whatnot. But I bring it up at each appt and we have a little chat, there is a bit you can write it up in your notes, so you can have a start at filling your plans in etc They are your notes afterall.
My midwife briefly mentioned it at 28 weeks and I said I really don't have one I want to be open minded and do whatever needs done to get baby here as safely as possible. It's not really been mentioned since then but I have an appointment with the midwife a week today when I will be 36+4 so maybe there will be a more in depth discussion then.
I was told at my last mw appointment they will discuss after my antenatal classes but they are 35/36 weeks...to me that is late. I've started making my own notes on what I would like then can add to it after the classes.
