When do they start smiling?

I know Summer is just a week old but I'm sure she smiles

They smile from a week or so old but it's without any control over it - like she will smile, but not at you, its unfocused, if you see what I mean.

About 4-5 weeks, she'll start to smile in response to you and focus properly, which is magical.

This is what we were told anyway.

emily smiled when she as about 3weeks old, but shes always done everything advanced

you will know when she smiles at you

Sam was five and a half weeks, and I'll never forget it!

Jake was about 5 weeks, my OH kept winding me up saying its just wind but it was definately a smile. He has been laughing for the last week too, it makes my heart burst with pride

George was about 5 1/2 weeks when he first smiled at me. It was magical and made me cry it was such a lovely moment.

He did some "windy" smiles before that but with the real smile was unmistakable and started in his eyes

Dylan was & weeks old when he did his i was worried he wasn't happy but now i know he was just to laid back to put any effort into learning to smile

Oh it's just the bestest thing in the whole wide world when they do that first heart melting, warm, loving smile, and it does start in their eyes, and you will know its NOT wind!! heehee

Austin was about 4 weeks, it was the middle of the night and he'd woken up for the 6th time I was so tired I was nearly in tears and he just looked up at me and smiled! It was gorgeous, just made everything worthwhile.
