Charlotte is just not interested in solids and closes her mouth tight shut. We started weaning her slowly at 4 months as she was waking hungry, but the last week or so she is wanting less than at 4 months. She will have a small amount of cereal most mornings, but we are really struggling with lunch and tea. We offer a range of tastes etc.

It is really stressing me out now and i know it shouldn't but with her being 6 months now i worry why this is happening.

Should i drop one of the attempted "meals" completely until she is interested again? Also we do try and give her food when she is hungry, before milk, and when she doesn't want food she will still have 8oz of milk

Please help aaahhh

are you feeding her? have you thought about baby led weening. She does it all herself - she may find the independence means she will eat more.

as long as she is gaining weight, i was told not to worry about food to much, but until about 8 months, alice never really ate a huge amount. It was more play than eating.

i started giving alice milk first, then food after, and after a while i would feed alice and then give her milk after.

I think they go trought some sort of stage. Some days Daniel can eat a horse, but some days he is just not interested in food at all.

I wouldnt worry. As long as she is having milk, she is fine. Continue as you were, maybe try other foods in case she got bored.

I know how annoying it is-you make something and they are not interested and you end up throwing food away, but here we go...

Btw, one food Daniel always likes is baby porridge (Organix one with rasberries, or banana)

Its really tricky at this stage because they expect milk when they are hungry, not to be offered spoonfuls of mushy stuff lol try and give a couple of ounce's of milk to take away the hunger then offer a spoonful or two of food then give some more milk. You can also give baby rice which you mix with their milk anyway so then at least you know they are getting food and milk. Play it by ear hun, theres no right or wrong way to do it, just stay calm and remember that everyday might be different so stay flexible and try not to get stressed with it.

:D

Hi Nikkif,

when Ash starts solids, I'm going to give him his solid in between milk feeds. So he'll have a milk feed at 12ish then I'll do solids at about 2pm. Then he'll have another milk feed at 4pm. A lot of my friends do this and it seems to work quite well.

I HATED weaning, just for the record  especially at the 6month stage, but I LOVED it when we found that if he could do it himself he would eat and enjoy it :) I would suggest finger foods, steamed carrot, butternut squash, grapes, blackberries, toast with dairylea spread or humous, strips of fresh roast chicken, stewed beef, anything that she can feed herself, and prepare for mess, but SMILE the whole time  Isaac just went off mush jars, he prefered to feel and see what he was eating. Very best wishes, have fun :D
