Hi all

On sunday I found out i was pregnant and due 22 Sept 2009. It wasn't planned and I'm still in a bit of shock about the whole thing, but wondered if i could pick your collective brains on something.

We are due to be travelling to South Africa on 29 April for my brothers wedding, and then touring round camping for a few weeks, and were supposed to be doing lots of hiking as well as relaxing.

We are hardy campers so that's not a problem, my concern is how big will i be at that point, is hiking out of the question, will i be uncomfortable sleeping whatever kind of bed i'm in.

Obviously every woman is different, and there's no set size, but reading up about what's going to be going on inside my body i'm wondering whether this is such a good plan.

Any thoughts, advice, tips would be gratefully appreciated.

Thank You
Sacbina

Hi Sacbina

There can be a huge difference in bump size at 19 weeks. I'm 17 weeks now, and obviously pregnant, but I think I could probably cope with a bit of a hike, but nothing as strenuous as I would have done before I was pg. You might find it hard to get comfy in a sleeping bag though, so take as many pillows as you have room for! I sleep with a bolster under my bump, and I've never slept so well!

To get an idea of how big you might be, take a look at the tummy pics section at the top - you'll see a variety of different sizes to give you an idea of what you can expect!

Good advice above :)

I went for a 4d scan at 24 weeks and the scanners couldnt decide which of the 3 of us was pregnant, some ladies are quite big at 19 weeks, i felt i had a bump, but i think most people just thought i was a little fat lol.

Again energy levels differ between women, i'm pretty sure i was feeling pretty good around then though

Firstly - Congratulations!

I'm 18 weeks and I have to say I'm really feeling it at the moment. I have a very noticible pregnant tummy, chronic back ache but more importantly I feel more tired now than I did in the first Tri. After a week at work I can't talk to anyone on the friday otherwise I risk murdering them.

But there are loads of girls on here that feel great (lucky sods) so in otherwords, (and this probably is far from helpful!) you could feel the best you've ever felt and full of energy or completely the opposite. You might be massive or just have a tiny wee bump. It's so hard to say.

Either way have a FANTASTIC time at your brothers wedding. :D

And sorry for being completely unhelpful! :rotfl:

Congratulations on your pregnancy.

At 19 weeks i had a bump but not very big, I probably just looked fat. I was still being sick daily at 19 weeks and was feeling quite tired. But as others have said some people feel fine. Even though i wasn't feeling my best at 19 weeks I think a trip to South Africa would have cheered me up so i'd have gone anyway! Have a great time.

thanks everyone for your replies. pretty much sums up what i had been thinking - who knows what I'll be like!

I'm a very active and fit person, so I'm hoping that they may help. and as my dr said yesterday - its not an illness and before we got all mollycoddled women were still working in the fields and having babies. not that that comment really helped me

eitherway, nature will take its course - ho hum

thanks again

Sacbina
