hey, i wanted to do the same as you but have been exclusively bfing since william was born as i wanted to make sure my supply was established before i started expressing and the first two weeks are hard enough without including pumping, also with him cluster feeding i dont know when i would have had time to do it! lol

anyway i have an electric breast pump, milk storage bags for freezer ( keeps for 3 months btw) and milton to sterilise. i did buy a load of tommie tippie bottles which are useless as william doesn't like them, probly because the teets are huge compared to my nipples and the action of latching and using a bottle is very different. We got a bottle from hospital ( nuk) which is meant to be similar to nipple shape ( looks similar) and we used that for the first time the other day with expressed bm and he took it fine, took him a couple of minutes to get used to different action but fed well and went onto breast afterwards with no problem.

also, make sure u have some nipple cream and brace yourself for sore nips, it does get better and after two weeks it doesn't hurt, also take all the help you can about latching technique and if you have a little angles group ( pink tshirts charity about breastfeeding, they came into hospital ward and have groups in community) they offer great support and do home visits to help.

dont know if any of that was useful, just my experience, but hope it helps in some way

good luck, and stick with it, its so much easier then bottles and stuff

Thank you !! That was more helpful than you realise haha as my whole family have bottle fed :( so no adivce from them :( but I hope it doesn't hurt that bad haha :) x

Breast milk keeps in freezer for up to 6 months. Try and get in storage bags, take up a lot less room than using pots etc.

Everyone has different experiences with breast pumps, my advice would be shop around as see if you can get a bargain. Same with bottles.

I wouldn't advice expressing until your supply has settled (unless of course you are lucky to get an over supply, in that case don't waste it!) We used TT closer to nature bottles, but ever LO is different so again bargains or just a couple, and don't leave it too late, nipple confusion is a lot rarer than refusing bottles.

Kellymom.com has great info on expressing etc. so does mother2mother website including all the current storage guidelines. Xxx

On my iPhone - so cant see tickers :(
