i bought my mattress when i first moved out, money was tight i was only 17

bought the cheapest kind in the shops £30 for a double spring mattress

i have a lovely expnsive duvet goose feather cost over £100

but my mattress as served its perpose and we made 2 beautifull babies on it
but its time to treat me and OH

springs are pooping out ever where before i would just roll over a bit but the bit i roll over to now has one poping out and even if i turn it over it does. i have put 2 quilts over it with my fitted sheet on top still pants sooooo.................

what kind do you have ?
how much did you pay ?
worth the money ?
and how long should a mattress last ?

so i can get an idea of price range and what kind is best quality :)

love the look of the memory foam????

We have an orthopaedic mattress....think it was about £100-ish...I have absolutely no idea how long a mattress should last though. We turn ours once a month, we've had it for 18 months now and its still good as new so hoping to get a few more years out of it yet at least :D

never heard of that kind - god so many to choose from

thats a good price though

is it a firm kind or not? i dont like the idea of the hard ones

Its not too firm, its just firm enough!! Orthopaedic ones are good for your back, so ideal if you suffer from any kind of back pain etc, I put my back out when I was younger doing gymnastics without warming up properly (usually cos I was late for class after a drinking session the night before  ) so I suffer on a soft mattress

Its a spring one...I do like the sound of memory foam though

memory foam ones are nice but no gd if u bf baby on them cos it could suffocate them :(

we have an Ikea one but when i lived with my parents i had a really nice luxury expensive foam one, but it was only a single so no room for anythin other than me lol

id say £100 tops dionne, theres plenty of bed stores about now too!

We splashed out on our current mattress. The one we had previously wasn't very good, kept waking up with a bad back. So we decided to treat ourselves, afterall you spend so much time in bed. At the start of this year, when I discovered I was pregnant, we bought a Tempur memory foam mattress, and as we have a superking sized bed, the mattress came to over £1000. It felt weird when we first slept on it, but now we're used to it, it's fab! The only downside with these mattresses is that it retains heat, so it feels hotter in bed compared with other mattresses during the summertime.

My previous mattress came with my bed and it was a cheap crappy one. I had it for around 3 years. When I began working full time after uni the very first thing I did was to treat myself to a decent matress. I bought a medium/firm luxuary (sp) mattress for about £200. It was definately a good buy. However since becoming pregnant the bed stead I had was bowing in the middle and wasnt doing my back much good so I have just bought a 'faux' leather bed (with sprung laminated slats) too :D Now my bed is the best ever

If you can sleep on quilts and be comfy you might like a soft mattress.... I have to have it HARD... the mattress that is!! :rotfl:
I cant stand the feeling of sinking into my mattress

xxxxx

mines a silent night. But with the making of 4 kids there haven't been many silent nights on that

i got a new one not too long ago and its lovely :)

i wish i had a memory foam one though :)

they are lush my friend has one :D:D:D

Mine is made by Simmons I think. I love it! We bought a divan bed with springs and the matress has a winter and summer side. The winter side has a matress topper - a kind of pad - attached to the top which makes it lovely and soft! We're still using the winter side at the mo! It was expensive - I think the bed and the matress cost about £700 altogether but we bought it with money from our wedding presents.

I have this one too, it's the best buy in the world.

But quite expensive  probably go to ikea and test the mattresses out.
plus there value for money there as well.

I gather that the best sort to get is pocket sprung. If you're really wanting to splash out, it's best to go to a specialist company and discuss your requirements with them. You want your mattress to last a good few years, at the very least (I think about 6 years is the norm, but don't quote me on that). For that sort of quality, reckon on spending at least £400. Cheapo mattresses just aren't worth it. To keep it in tip top condition you will need to turn it regularly, too, so that it wears evenly and you don't end up with any lumps and bumps.

Ooooooooooooo we have the Bali! It is the most amazing mattress ever pocket sprung with a memory foam topping. I prefer it to all memory foam as we found those too soft. Pocket sprung is good as it means if one of you turns over the whole bed doesn't shudder (unless you wont it too of course ;) ) The Bali is fabulous, OH is a big chap at 6 ft 3 and he often gets a bad back as he is heavy as well, the Bail helps with all of that. Plus its really comfy.... I could go on for hours I LOVE it lol.

And this is it: http://www.dreams.co.uk/scripts/smartsh ... 979;page=1

I'm with Gingerpig, memory foam toppings rock!

Ours is a Silentnight. Was a gift from the in-laws but I'd never go back to cheap mattresses again.

Always spend good money on your bed and your shoes. If you're not in one, you're in the other! :D

Im buying myself a new mattress once i have money.

it will be memory foam cant wait to get it. £250 which i thought was good
