That is ridiculous, surely you want to encourage working people to have babies so they bring children into the world who also go on to work..... My children will have strong work ethic because both me and my partner work VERY hard (and i tell ya nothing is harder than staying home being a mom, at work you get breaks!!!!) so you should get paid for doing it lol!

I found this out at the weekend that you guys don't get that! We went to Long Island and stayed with family and a cousin was due any day and was amazed at what we get in comparisson so now I can't really complain about the 'lack' of maternity benefits now!!

How do you support youself before and after the baby is born, because you cant go back to work straight away?

theres women here who dont take maternity leave until they go inot labor and then go back to work 2 weeks after baby is born, just because they cant afford to be out of work. and nope we dont get ANY kind of pay

I don't believe that - I always assumed that the USA ran a similar system to ourselves
And I always thought we were badly done to compared to other European countries, but well now..
