What do you prefer?

As a person whose name is permanently spelled wrongly (Rebecca has two 'c's, the way I spell Beccy has two 'c's, but apparently this concept is too difficult for most people!) - I would say do your kid a favour and go for 'Amy'.

my colleague is an aimee and she always has to spell it which annoys her
however, do like that spelling

I like both but I do see peoples point on Aimee. I'd probably go with Amy just to make it easier on the baby.

My name is Aimee an spelt this way i love it this way its unusal spelt id rather have my name spelt different then everyone have the same spelling as me it wasnt confusing spelling my name when i was young. Depends if you prefer Amy for short or just because its most commonly used.
Although i had a friend an her name was spelt Ami i like that way of spelling but i do not like it spelt Amy xx
