eep ohmygoodness im glad ur both ok! a car accident that mustve been so scarey :(

sorry i cant advise, i had a home birth so i wasnt on a monitor. good luck if this is it tho!

On the day before Oscar was born I started having contractions at 7am, I had my appointment to discuss induction that lunchtime where I was put on the monitor and the highest reading was 57. I wasn't feeling masses of pain at that point although I could recognise that they were contractions because of the the rise and fall of the sensation. I was 1cm dilated at this point. I asked the midwife how high the readings would go and she said the machine tops out at around 130 although the contractions could still get progressively more intense beyond that.

The next time I was put on the machine over 12 hours later, after having the drip to try and move things along (I was stuck at 8cm), the contractions were measuring 130.

Sorry to hear about your car accident, hope you and bump are ok

I was never monitored. I don't think they had time as i was very far on once i got to hospital which they weren't expecting.

Hope you and baby are ok though.

The midwife I had during labour said the numbers they don't actually take much notice of it's the frequency of it going up and down. I guess it's a way for them to time them and know what stage of labour you're at. My midwife kept checking the traces and telling me how far things were going and she was right all the way so she didn't have to examine me too much.

I wasn't put on a monitor either

Hope u are both well
