Its getting so grey and rubbish and I have massive roots and its making me sad now :?

I know I can't use the dye I would normally use but what is there that is safe to use?

 I can't dye my hair??!

I had no idea (I haven't, but was going to!)

Good job you asked this Madam Bully, I need to know too it seems!!

I gave up looking in the end as I couldn't find anything that didn't seem to be full of chemicals. even the Holland and Barratt didn't seem very natural. Sorry - not much help I know. If its any consolation, I've dyed mine twice in 2nd Tri and neither have taken very well, so it is grey galore here. At least its not all fallen out - my hairdresser was telling me some horror stories last week.......

ive been having highlights and streaks with no major disasters!!!
waited until i was 12 weeks though xxxxxx

According to my hairdresser (who I go to frequently) the not dying hair in pregnancy thing is nothing more than an old wives tale. Hair is dead it's not living cells so can't do anything really! I've had mine done for years (including through my pregnancy) and no problems. Try popping into a hairdressers and asking them straight out if your worried but I'd say just go for it, it's done me or baby no harm!

i read that having highlights and lowlights is fine as the dye does not come into contact with the scalp. the problem is when the dye comes into contact with the scalp.

it doesn't matter that the hair is dead (which is what hairdressers say) as it is absorbed through the scalp and gets into the bloodstream and is then excreted in the urine.

i went to get mine done and they highlighted and lowlighted and made sure they didn't put the dye on my scalp. the colour took fine.

i think nhs direct has a thing on their website about it.

hope that helps hun!

Thank you girlies

Might try the whole low light thing, just used to having bright red hair! Oh well, my whole life is about to change so my hair is nothing in comparison!

I dyed my hair every 4 weeks all throughout my pregnancy and Jacob's fine! I used L'oreal Excellence. I think it used to be a problem 10 years ago but the dyes are so advanced now.
