Im dreading having to have a c section again so this time im gonna do as much as poss to make sure i stay in control - i.e. have some sort of birth plan.

I have no clue however what I am and am not allowed to ask for..
For example, can I ask for certain music to be played?? At James's birth they had Sledge Hammer and Transvision Vamp and I didnt think they were particularly appropriate...

Also, my hands were pinned to me last time so i wanna make sure they are freed this time and that i get to at least touch Oliver once he is born rather than having to wait til im in recovery...

Any suggestions of what you did to make your c section experience a more pleasurable one would be really appreciated....

Hels and Beany both had elective c sections and had amazing births. I'd PM them and ask as they had some great birth plans.

I'm in the same situation as you babe. Last time I didnt get to hold Chester til he was probably 45mins old, he was given to daddy then dressed weighed and I didnt get a cuddle til in recovery. I do not want this to happen this time, I think it affected our bonding (tho were best mates now lol!). I want baby passed to be straight away if only for a minute gunk and all!

I'd like my mum there as well as DH but I doubt this will be possible. I dont mind what music they play tbh, anything that relaxes and makes the surgeon happy is good enough for me!

I had an emergency c-section and after he was born and very quickly checked by the pediatrition he was handed to david who lay him down beside me - no one cleaned or dressed him until I said it was ok after I had fed him and cuddled him for ages in recovery.

god your lucky Ella. It took aaages for James to be handed to me. :( It was a shambles from start to finish tbh and thats why I want to make sure i have a bit more control this time round.

I really really want contact with Pumpkin a lot sooner than I got with James - it was horrible lying there and not being able to even touch my baby. :(

it makes me sad that so many of you had to wait so long before holding your baby :( I never understand why this is common procedure.

lol @ the mummy tuck though :rotfl:

I have no advice, but i really hope you get the birth you want this time! I was goign mental (in my head, as i was drunk on G&A) that Tally wasn't handed to me straight away, i cant imagine how i'd have been if i'd had to wait like you did

Im surprised at how long some of you ladies waited aswell. I'd be gutted! I had an emergecy C section last week and they put him on me after they gave him a quick clean up.

I hope you have a better experience this time round.

with my first i had an emergency section so obviously i had no control but this time i had and elective section, i got to choose to have a spinal this time round, there was no music playing but maybe that was just my hospital i didn't mind though as i just chatted to the anesthetist who was lovely. My hands were not pinned down only put on the rest things so i got to hold bethan on my chest straight away. if i were you i would talk to who ever gives you your pre op and good luck
