What age will you/did you start potty training your LO?

Really good question!!!! Can't wait to hear what poeple say....hadn't even thought about it tbh lol!! X

I thought about this today But have no idea whens good to start x

madison is coming 17 months and i have bought a potty that is sat beside my downstairs loo lol, as she is obsessed when anyone goes to the toilet, i am just letting her familiarise herself with it, i have no dates set to pottytrain, just whenever shes ready,

most people potty train between 2 and 2 and a half :)
some earlier some later

xxx

I think mine were around 18 months when I started introducing the potty.

I did the same with my boys. I had it around, used to tell them what it was for and I left it up to them then. No pressure and I found they took to it really well!

Im going to start at 18 months but want her to be at least a little potty trained, ie telling me when shes weeing etc by 24 months.

At the moment I make it very clear (of course not in a mean way at all! lol) when she has nappy free time that when she wees its wee wee and repeat it alot so she kind of associates it.

Im probably being a bit tough  Its just one of those things that Im a bit set on. I know that sometimes children just arent ready sometimes and that things don't always go to plan but yeah...thats the plan!

I introduced the potty about 18 months but waited till he seemed ready.. just after he turned 2 i just took his nappy off and put his 'big boy' pants on... we had 7 accidents the first day, 2 the second day and by the 3rd day he was going toıilet and dry all day :D It was a very messy 3 days but worked well.

Do you have carpet? I let zac have naked time downstairs yesterday (he normally has it during baby massage) and he weed on the carpet, so I put his nappy back on. I know it's easily cleaned but can't cope with wee on the carpet all the time! What do you do? Do u think I just need to get over it and let him do it? X

I'm the same as you Zazu. I let Emily have a few minutes but then put her nappy back on, just in case!

We have got a holiday booked for when Emily will be 20 months so I'm waiting till after that.

With poppy I did it. Bang on 2 years and with a bit of bribery she was dry in the day after about 5 days.

Nell just copied poppy when she was 18m out of the blue and was dry day and night straight away

I do this with Oscar too, have done since the start I think. Every bath he always does 2 wees soon as he goes in the water and I always tell him he's doing/done a wee wees and I always tell him when he's done a poo poops too lol Hopefully he'll get the word association early xxxx

i was reading a book a while ago that said age 2 is the best age, but like mums have already said, if you have the potty around the house for a good few months before so that they are familiar with it etc. according to reasearch that this book did, babies who started at the age of 2, not before, took to it alot better and alot more efficiently with less accidents than those babies who started in the months earlier. i'll get a potty when hes 18months and then just start at 2... and fingers crossed!!!

Yeah Ive got carpet. At first I was like oh my....your peeing on my carpet....but now Im like Pah, oh well lol. I just shampoo the carpets every now and then to keep them fresh. Shes a demon for trying to poo when the nappies off as well lol.

Apparently around this age, once they wee you have a good 15 minutes before theyll go again as theyll start doing 'power wees' now, instead of just going continuously. :) So once he's done it, you've got a bit of time to keep the nappy off.

Lacey was 2 and a half. I tried from when she was 2 but she wasn't interested! When she started weeing on the potty it didn't take long before she was dry through the day and afew months later she was dry through the night too

im potty training my little girl at the mo shes 2 she has masterd her wee wees to master the poos is a little harder she is doing fab 3 days of doing it on the potty she calls it her muddy lol i have no idea why but shes a little star

I'm leaving my two to do it themselves! I tried K a few months back and she knew exactly what she needed to do and would scream and hold it for ages when she needed to go! She's very stubborn and I know the more she knows I want her to do something, the less she's gona do it! The pottys always around and she knows what it's for, but I'm
NIt forcing her to do it! I'll only worry when she gets close to going to school!

I think Es getting ready to train, she's refusing to wear nappies ad will only wear pull ups, which she can take off and put back on! But Amy will bear witness to this one, the 15 minute rule doesn't always apply! I swear she weed on my floor like 10 times in 30 mins the other day! Ella not amy btw

I might just give it a go, he loves having his nappy off, thanks xxx
