3 days ago my boobs went soft and stopped getting engorged, which I was told was normal so I accepted that.

Sinse then she was having to go on both boobs as she seemed to finish one and need the other to top herself up, which I also accepted as being normal.

Last night was horrible she was up all night :( it was like she wasnt getting what she wanted and was really stressing out, she would spend about 5 mins on the one and then start pulling on my nipple and winging because she wasnt getting anything, so I would put her on the other one and after 5-10 mins she would do the same, so I was having to constantly keep swapping.

Whats happening? :(

MINE done the same its horrible  i had to stop boobie feeding my milk just came to a halt and i dont know why

it hasn't come to a halt tasha. it may seem it to you but it hasn't.
your boobs have just settled down and are producing just enough for bubba now. before they were producing too much so you were feeling engorged and leaking etc.

baby may have been suckling a lot last night becasue she is increasing the milk supply for her growing needs. babies are growing all the time you know and sometimes just like adults they are hungrier or more thirsty than other times.

don't give up tasha! keep feeding baby as much as she wants . RELAX and trust in yourself.

:D Thanks Budge

I would hate to give up, and she seems to be ok this morning, I think because I am over tierd I got more worried about it.

she had a good feed on the one side just now and seems happy again :D

Thank you the reassurance

Tasha your LO probably got so used to the gushing that she is annoyed that she has to work harder! Leorah is still at her happiest when the milk comes so fast she is choking

Because of a desperate situation I was in because of Leorah's intolerance to dairy and soy I had to feed her from empty boobs and so started to express rather than have her scream at the nipple, my boobs made 3 oz on demand so it goes to show you will always be able to make milk for your baby even if your boobs feel empty :)

Tasha budge and skatty are right. Your boobs never run out of milk, the flow slows right down so baby may get frustrated but they never empty completely. Only 2% of women are physically unable to breastfeed and the fact you have had a good supply shows that you are definately not in this camp. Get some great dvd's, surround yourself with all sorts of goodies and just spend all the time you can feeding, the growth spurt will soon be over with

Thanks Ladies, its really appreciated :D

lol she is a piggy so I suppose with it slowing down shes not going to be happy about it

Shes ok now and is just sucking harder and feeding every 30 mins, she knows whats shes doing :D

It's so hard isn't it! Breastfeeding confuses me so much. You think you have it sorted and then something changes!

Well done for keeping going. I am determined not to give up! I experienced the same as you a couple of weeks back and thought I wasn't producing enough milk. Now, I can express 60ml from the breast Jacob isn't drinking from which I save for his late evening feed....I feel so proud its ridiculous!!!

I FIND GROWTH SPURTS REALLY FRUSTRATING (soz caps) but i do what beanie suggests and watch a dvd ignore the housework and get hubby fetching and carrying for me

Completely off topic sorry but I love your jiggly jugs budge

Everyone else has said what i would have said too. If you are really really worried and need something to reassure you you can buy a herbal tea that will increase your milk supply naturally. I use it every so often when Thea seems to be getting frustrated. My doctor recommended it to me. In Hungary its called Lactoherb. Its really inexpensive so if you cant find it at home and would like some give me a shout and I'll happily post it to you hun.

Tahsa just in case you experince this as well Otis for ages did what you mentioned you little lady was doing - drinking for a bit and then getting really frustrated, I was getting a little bit stressed about it as I didn't know what I was doing wrong?! Still not sure what it was but at about 2.5 / 3 months it all stopped and he drinks his milk like a good boy even enough he never drinks for more then 10 mins max!!! It usually is less than that. It does take awhile to get the hang of things just keep at it and before you know it you'll be a pro!!

Thanks for all the advice !! :D

Shes ok during the day the little madame, but at night shes constantly feeding and getting stressed.

I hope this stops soon :?

I will talk to the HV about herbal remedies thanks :D

thanks Beanie

Tasha are you feeding Olivia lying down in bed next to you? if you are are you sure shes not getting wind?
I find that Rachael fusses at the breast if she has a spot of wind.
Just a thought hun

Yes she does fuss at the nipple when she has wind, and I wind her after every feed.

Yet she still wanted to be fed constantly and then was stressing out at the nipple because she wasnt getting what she wanted.

Today shes done it again and I had to offer her both sides and she was still pulling at my nipples like a cow

Apparantely when they pull on the nipple it sends a message to the brain to increase supply :)

lol it sends a message alright, I keep telling my boobs too

lol shes pulls em like im a cow, clever little things babies and boobs

Make sure you drink plenty of water. In the early when Ellie had a day she didn't seem to be able to get satisified I realised I hadn't drunk as much water as I had been too busy and that seemed to impact my milk supply.

I drink about 10 pints a day, lol im thirsty all the time :D
