I've been dreading today because I was finally getting to see the consultant as opposed to the doctors under her. From my chats with the anaethetist and doctors I was under the distinct impression that they wanted my to have an elective c-section.
Basically the consultant was very nice and approachable and I was able to have a frank discussion about what I wanted for my birth and how I felt that I was geared up to a c-section. They were able to put my mind at ease and say that they'll allow me to go for as straight forward a birth as possible and I'll only have extra intervention should I need it. Basically all my bloods, BP and checks on the baby are all still coming back as normal so they are happy for me to proceed as normal. I agreed to a compromise about the DVT prevention treatment in that I'll start it before the birth if I have problems or my test results go off. But I will have the treatment after birth just to make sure. I am more than happy with this as I have always said my aim was to get LO and me through this as safely as possible.
PHEW! Sorry for the big post but I am so relieved. I actually felt like someone listened to me.
Afterwards went and had a look at TK Maxx and B&M Store in the hope I would find some bargains like some other ladies had. I was out of luck and only managed to come away with some Xmas tinsel and a small box of Toffeefe
Picked up a Lego Star Wars Advent calendar for DH as a treat. Returned some pants to the catalogue and generally got all my running around done.
Came home to a nice cheque on the door mat from the pet insurance and then found out we will also be getting a refund from the vet as we had paid the excess on some treatment for my cat which was an on-going claim so it was paid out by the insurance too. Big relief because it was money we never expected to pay in the first place.
The issues over my bank holidays at work has been resolved too. Basically I'll get paid them in my last wage before I go on Mat leave. So that was unexpected too.
Wish more days were like this.
