Hi all
Random question, but how much weight has everyone put on so far?

After I found out I was pregnant, I lost 5lb (guessing stopping drinking and a smaller appetite).

My appetite has come back and I’ve put weight on now, but I’m still only 2lb more than when I found out (so 7lb on really). I’m week 18, I don’t know if I should have put on less or more. What’s normal??
Thanks. xx

I've put on 7lbs as well; week 17 - Its a little more than I would have hoped but we've had a two week cruise and a few events on in that time so I would have gained weight even if I wasn't pregnant. I don't think 7lbs is a huge amount to be honest I just wanted to gain less as I wasn't at my ideal weight before getting pregnant and I don't want to have loads to lose after having the baby either; but this is my second and I gained WAY too much with my first (Didn't weight myself but probably 3 stone (after having my son) possibly even more - I went from a size 10 to a 16 to 18. I really don't want that happening again.

That’s my fear as well, I could have done with losing a bit before but I didn’t and now I’m already heavier than I wanted to be so if I then put another stone or two on its 3/4 stone to lose!! That’s a lot!!

Just try and be careful what you eat; that's my plan. I'm still going to have certain treats but not go crazy just because I'm pregnant.
I wouldn't try and diet yet; but it's a good idea to just make sure we're eating healthy for us and our babies.

I'm 21 weeks and had gained 2 pounds total at my 20 week appointment. I was a little worried but my doc said if you're a healthy starting weight it doesn't matter if you don't gain anything in trimester 1/2 because baby will take what it needs from you regardless. She said weight in pregnancy isn't really something to worry about unless you're overweight to start with or are gaining a lot (like 20 pounds in tri 1/2).

I gain a ton each time. Each and every time, no matter how active I am or how I eat. I am very slim though so I guess that’s to be expected. I’m sure I’m at least 15 lbs up (I’m 18+5 today) I’ll find out at my appointment tomorrow.

I think its about 3lbs for me at week 16. I was the same, dropped a few pounds at the start, and now I've started to put on some.

I'm 12 weeks and I've lost 4lbs.

Expect I'll start gaining in 2nd trimester but I'm plus size (size 18 UK) so hoping not to gain too much, and not concerned with the loss.

I'm 25 weeks and have gained 1 and a half stone! It feels like a lot but my MW doesn't weigh at antenatal appointments unless you were overweight at the booking appointment. They told me since my BMI was within the normal range that they wouldn't weigh me again.

That's the same here. Unless you're overweight at the start they don't care what you weigh, they only care what baby is weighing. My doc only weighed me because I asked her to as I don't own scales lol

So the answer is that some have gained, some have lost and some have stayed the same! No right answer.

Aren’t our bodies weird!!

The answer is that as long as you're in a healthy weight range for your height, don't worry about it :)

Hi penny pie just weighed myself last night and I have put on 4kg in total and I'm 19 weeks. I must admit once I got my appetite back after being so sick I did binge on all my favourite foods but now I'm planning on sticking to a healthy balanced diet for the rest of pregnancy x

I put on 2st throughout my pregnancy, a lot of that was just fat. I started just under 8st and reached 10st by delivery (I'm short/petite so it was a big change).
Once my son was born the majority dropped off pretty quickly. 6 months on I'm almost back to my normal weight without having to 'try' to lose the weight.
Apparently anything from 1 1/2 to 2 1/2st is the healthy/recommended amount of weight gain if you have a healthy bmi

I only put on 12 pounds my entire first pregnancy and most of that seemed to be between about weeks 18-30. After week 30 I just couldn’t eat much in one go - there just didn’t seem to be space inside! I’d have to have half a piece of toast, wait 30 mins, then the next bit. I didn’t lose in the last 10 weeks or so but didn’t gain any either. Growth scans showed the baby was gaining fine - it was only me that was wasting away!
