Hi girls,I'm new to this and was just wondering has anyone had much weight gain in 1st trimester?
I'm 8wks tomorrow and have gained 14lbs!!!!! I just can't stop eating!!! Can't stomach a dinner so eating jellies, salt n vinegar crisps and bread (trying wholemeal). These are the only things to keep my queasyness at bay. If I do manage a dinner I'm starving 10 minutes later even though I feel my belly will explode. HELP!!!!
I should menton that I can eat fruit and do. Also eating lots of brown bread/branflakes etc drinking lots of water but still a little constipated (sorry tmi) Please Help

I really wouldn't worry, the first trimester is hard so do whatever you need to get through it, things will settle in the second trimester I'm sure. How is your weight when not pregnant, is there concern about your BMI? Xx

Thankyou for replying. BMI was 26 so I was still over to begin with. I'm just afraid for my baby as the only good nutrients are from milk and fruit...everything else is savoury ALL DAY LONG

Savoury isn't a problem! Branflakes are good, what are you eating for dinner when you can manage it? Don't worry about baby, just keep up with your vitamins and they will get everything they need. With my first I was the opposite and couldn't keep down hardly anything in the first trimester but baby was fine. They're so small and need so little at this stage xx

Oh and have you tried anything else to help with feeling queasy? I found the travel sickness bands really helped xx

You sound just like me in the first trimester. I gained over half my total weight gain by about 16 weeks, just had to keep eating all the time to deal with the sickness. After that it got much easier and I was able to go back to eating healthily again so my weight gain slowed down.

Unicorn - I can't cook ANYTHING The smell of the food cooking, veg, potato, meat anything but I can eat when cooked, all smell of cooking gone and I reheat. When I say Savoury I mean bread crisps and crisps and more crisps (salt n vinegar only) Haven't tried the band but I will. Thanks for the tip
Abi88- I hope it does calm down. My husband said he's never seen anything like the way I'm eating
Thank you so much for your replies girls
Im definitely feeling a little better

Even the foods you can tolerate are exactly the same as mine! Salt and vinegar crisps and jelly sweets! If the sickness is really bad see a MW or doctor and get something for it since it sounds like HG. I wish I had got the medicine sooner instead of trying to wait it out.

Thanks Abi88 but I'm not getting sick just fierce nauseated all day long. Today now was a good day.. Just small bit throughout the day so hopefully it's passing. Have doctor next Thursday (earliest appointment). Thanks again for the reply xx

Honestly sometimes the nausea is worse. At least being sick gives you a few minutes of not feeling sick after. Good luck with the Dr's appointment.

I feel sick but feel better when I eat I darent get on the scales as defo been eating more than usual!!

This happened to me! I was very poorly in my first tri was sick a lot but only of a night so of a day I would eat what I could - lots of bread and lots of crisp. I gained around 10lb. A lot of it will also be bloat and water retention.
I got sick and lost all my weight in week 13 though but here I am nearly 15 weeks still only managing bread and crisp and the odd few mouthfuls of a proper meal at night.

Don’t worry like others have said the first tri is hard so you just got to make it through however your body lets you

Xx

Thankyou girls X As I sit here now eating a roll and crisps I'm just going to go with the sickly flow(no other choice) xxx
