just started weaning maisy, she doing really really well...........like a duck to water. anyway, was just wondering how much and how often you gave food with your LOs

how come you have started to wean already?

i started willow 3 weeks ago and it didnt really go to plan to i have started her again and she has 1 meal at the moment which is breakfast at 9 o clock i cut out her 9am bottle and started giving her solids instaed and she is doing good now will tey to give her lunch in a few eeks probably.

her milk just wasnt satisying her. lets face it, the 6 month mark is just a guideline, if all babies were the same someone would have written a manual by now.
we all know our own children better than anyone else.
i havent cut out any of her bottles, i make up an extra ounce and use this to make her food with so she is still getting the same amount of milk if not more.
she has food on her second bottle of the day which is about 11am and on her last bottle which is about 7pm. she then sleeps through till about 7am.
hope all goes well with weaning your LO

When i first weaned keeley i was told not to cut out any milk feeds as milk is the most important thing for babies under six months...

i first started givin keeley puree's at about 3ish it was inbetween her bottles :)

i started weaning D at 17 weeks..i gave him 5 spoonfuls of veg puree for first week for one meal then two meals for second week..i increased it but he got really constipated so have reduced it again...Have you tried milk for hungrier babies to help satify her ?

yes she has almost always been on that. i havent cut out any of her milk..........i use milk to make up her food so she has extra

I started my little boy Nathan on baby food about 2 weeks ago.
He now has creamy rice breakfast from a jar for breakfast, and for tea he has half a small jar of baby food and then a few spoons of fruit puree for desert.
He has always been a hungry baby taking 8 ounzes of sma white every 3-4 hours since he was 4 weeks old (hes now 4 mths old).
He has lately gone off his milk during the day though and seems very restless, im hoping its just teething as he is showing the signs.

I weaned Josh when he was 3 months too and he did just fine :)

Im waiting with Ryan though cos he has a hard enough time with his milk, never mind food

Good luck with it!

I started thomas around about the same time as you and just started with a lunch, I gave him his bottle then when he broke off I would give him his baby rice then after he finished that he could have the rest of his milk if he wanted. I always feed him with his milk as it means he is getting that first so he gets the goodness of the formula and doen't fill up on solids before. I gave him baby rice at lunch for two weeks then started breakfast and lunch after that for two weeks then he went onto veg and porridge, he is sticking to two meals a day until he is six months and then we will go in for tea as well!!

thanks for all your help, glad to know i am not the only one to wean at 3 months........why is so frowned upon? its fine all these so called experts saying leave it till 6 months but we are the ones who have to deal with our hungry babies day in and day out.
i am now giving her baby porridge made with formula for breakfast, baby rice with a little veg puree mixed in for lunch(also made with her milk) and a couple of spoons of baby rice before her last feed( about 7.pm)
she is doing really well and loves her food. it has also helped with her reflux, she hardly ever brings anything up now

Good for you, I hate how its frowned upon as well :)

Kai was around 4 months and has had no problems. But saying that, I will probably wait with the next one unless they really need it - as I am lazy. I really get sick of thinking about meals all the time.
