Hmm. I don't think he likes food!! Lol
Okay. He's nearly 7 mths..
Will now willingly ish eat the flavoured porridges...
But that's it.
Every type of thing I've tried him on, he wil take one spoon and then let it all come out.
So far I've made him food. But last night I bought him a jar to c if he'll eat it today...
I really don't want him eating them tho. Nothing against the jars at all.. Except the bloody cost of them!
I thought I'd try it, and if he eats it, try and follow their tastes and textures as much as possible?
What do u think?
I mentioned to the hv and all they said was, oh well he looks well fed.
Yes he's chubby but he doesn't bloody eat!
X

Okay... I REALLY need help! He wouldnt take the jar either! Tried our food mashed today too... nope.
The jar was a stage 2, so puree, but very few and fasr between bits of mash. Wudnt eat.
So we bought 2/3 of the stage 1 jars... for 4month olds this evening and will try them tomorrow...
hes nearly 7 months old!
Anyone else been here?
god i duno how how to get him to eat! x

whenever joshua tries new foods he spits it out can take a few attempts before he actualy decides sif he likes it or not?!.....might be an idea to try some sweetish foods like banana, apples and pears, maybe carrot, butternut squash, sweet potato? have you trid mixing some of his milk in to it?!!? if he likes them then maybe try him on mixing it in with some savoury foods??? apparently avocado is a really good for vts etc.....

Hope that helps?"?

Sophie x

Maybe start him on finger foods like steamed broccoli/carrot sticks and take the blw approach? X

My folder I got from organix says it can take take up to 16 attempts to get baby to take food.

I started Isla on banana porridge and she loves it. I also make her sweet potato, apple with pear, and carrots. She really enjoys fruit cocktail jars and ate an apple cookie crumble jar for tea.

Hope this helps x

Thanks for ur replies. Weve tried the blw thing (after I saw ppl talking about it on here- didnt have a clue what it was before!) he brings it to his mouth... and throws them away lol.
He HATES banana, but eats the banana porridge... which is all he'll eat at the moment.
He wont touch carrots/sweet potato. bit more willing with normal potato.. i.e 3 spoons maybe
And yeah I mixed in some milk..
Sorry, Im really not dismissing any ideas! ITs just something I wasnt expecting I guess and just feel really crappy, like how can I not be able to get him to eat? My daughter was so easy with everything, so I feel like Im doing everything for the first time coz nothings easy with this one!
Thanks for the advice. Will def have to be trying this xx

Poor you, must be hard. I wasn't weaned til 8 months, mum said I wasn't ready, so try not to worry too much, I'm sure one day it will just click and he will start to get the hang of it xxxx

Oscar is 8 months and only just eats willingly. I tried him at 6m, 7m and he would just cry and scream and gag if I put anything in his mouth. He's only just getting the hang of it now but won't drink out of anything at all except boob! Than't our next challenge!

I wouldn't worry about it too much Hun, milk is still his main source of nutrition right now and as long as he's still having all his feeds then he'll be fine. My friends baby didn't really have an interest in food till he was 8 months old (she done BLW). As long as you keep offering food then he'll soon take an interest.

Thanks. He took about 3 spoons of the stage 1 purée today .. Better than nothing I guess? So if I just keep persisting with that he shud eventually eat normally right?
Christ. Getting him to eat lumps will be fun xx

I know BLW has already been mentioned, my youngest cried whenever we put pureed food in her mouth, the HV suggested BLW and said not to worry about her actually eating until she was 8 months old. I used to give her sticks of cheese and toast and things like that which eventually she sucked, then started to eat. She's now 1 and will eat anything, even if not offered before. (and there was no changing to lumpy food issues as there was with my first daughter)

Okay, so te only finger foods I've tried were veg, coz I thought they had to be done first... So I can give toast, with the cheese I was worried in case of dairy stuff?
Any other finger food suggestions?
Sorry I'm just open to anything now.
I'm v glad to hear some didn't wean til 8 moths tho. Makes ms feel a little less worried! X

If he likes banana porridge try banana yoghurt or banana custard!I've been really lucky h has eaten everything I've given him!

Have you tried letting him help you hold the spoon while you feed him?

hope it starts getting a bit easier. we are doing blw and milk really is their main source of nutrition so I'm trying not to worry abotu how much goes down. Anything can be a finger food from 6 months if they can hold it do it! Owen likes toast with anything on! avocado, mashed fruit, rice cakes, big penne pasta, swede, carrot, sweet potato sticks, potato wedges, cucumber, avocado, loves melon... Does that help? Must be hard when he seems disinterested...

I give zac toast, pieces of banana, organix biscuits, hard cheese, rice cakes, and organix carrot puffs as finger foods. You can give dairy after 6 months, unless he has a known intolerance, zac loves yoghurt and dairylea triangles! He also still not keen on lumps, takes him forever to eat stuff with lumps in! Good luck, keep going, he will get there in the end xxx
