Okay, as the title says I'm jumping the gun a bit but please indulge me  So how are we all decorating our nurseries?? Don't tell me you haven't thought about it :fib:

So, I'm thinking lovely soft, squishy cream carpet, neutral walls, soft cord curtains, low lighting, blonde wood furniture, and I LOVE the Beatrix Potter baby stuff so maybe try to find a nice BP border or prints.:cloud9: Can you tell I've been doing some online window shopping.....

It is so nice to see such a positive and exciting thread, I have thought about the nusary a little bit, I got a sewing machine for christmas and eventually I want to make some curtains, and fabric mobiles etc. There are some cute fabrics around!!! Beatrix potter theme is a wonderful idea!! I love miffy, but that's quite girly (I am convinced we're having a girl!) ... Such exciting thoughts... Thank you xxx

i have chosen all mine. it is a winnie the pooh theme ive found called starry night. it's white and grey just beautiful. xxx

I love the sound of the starry night theme too, going to google it out of interest :) by the way, lovely scan photo - what a smiley baby, so amazing xxx

You're all so organised, I'm still to do mine, but Tomos is sleeping in our bedroom for the time being so no rush.

When I was pregnant I was thinking of doing nice neutral room (even though we knew it was a boy), but now that he's here I've changed my mind, and want to go for bold bright colours, and make the room slightly less babyish.

Santa got him the fisher price rainforest activity gym and I'm going to use that as a theme. I'm planning on painting the walls bright white and then have one feature wall in blue and green like the background of the activity gym, then I'm going to get the fisher price rainforest stickers to stick on, I haven't yet found any curtains and bedding that I like and I'm considering making my own.

That's the plan anyway, OH goes back to work tomorrow so I can have some peace and quiet and get on with the decorating. (Can't wait - as I was going to do it over the october half term holidays but ended up in hospital).

nmf1987 - I love the starry night set - its so nice being just a plain white and grey.

I am very excited for you ladies! I wish we could have the space for a nursery. In the first 6 mths my parents are coming to stay at ours as they live in another country. They will have the second bedroom so Baby erimela will be in our bedroom for the first 6 mths. I feel horrible about it. As if I am not giving our child what it needs from the outset! We are looking at buying a home, but it is expensive out there in London, and hubby is still looking for work :(

I am looking forward to hearing more about everyones nursery - I can live vicariously through everyones descriptions!

Happy decorating :)

our will be sleeping in our room as we only have a 1 bedroom flat!!

Don't worry ladies the current guidelines state that the baby should sleep in the same room as the parents for the first 6 months.

Well the baby will be in Moses basket in my bedroom for first few months anyway then will move into boys room! My step son is 7, he has top bunk. My son is 4, he has bottom bunk. Cot fits in room (just) sliding wardrobe a godsend. My other small bedroom has my husbands 15 yr old brother in it so no room there. Ill decorate the boys room bright colours that will suit any sex. The carpet is already bright red so will probably add blue, yellow and green.....something cool and timeless....

I spent way too long Lookin at nursery stuff yesterday, So I had a little giggle when I read this thread....... It's way too soon but I just couldn't help myself.

I then told my mum and she said that she had been looking too, but that she's being good and waiting till I say go!!!

I love the precious bear stuff from morhercare, although I'll probably change my mind several times....... How exciting though!!
Xx

All a bit of an unknown at the moment as we are hoping to move before baby is born and we dont know if we will be able to afford a 2 bed or if it will be another 1 bed in which case bub will be in with us.
It will also be rented so we would be limited on what we could actually do, we have spoken about possibly putting a poster up on the wall for litlen if we do get a 2 bed so it makes it for of a 'baby room'.

Not sure yet! In a 1 bed just now but hopefully move in April :) I absolotely loveeee the 'I love my bear' theme! Think that is what I'll go for, and keep the room pretty neutral xxx

Definitely going for bright colours! Orange and yellow we think, or maybe a blue theme... can't wait to get started! My dad's massively into astronomy, and he's decorated a ceiling in one of my their guest rooms with those glow-in-the-dark stars, but done as an exact replica of th sky at night. Hoping to rope him into doing the same for the nursery :)
Xx

Some lovely ideas ladies - I love the idea of brights and that starry night ceiling sounds beautiful! Hannah's baby you're so lucky to be able to sew - I bought a machine 4 years back but can't even get the blooming thing threaded  I had some great ideas but unfortunately lack the required ability :). I still spend hours on ebay eyeing up fabrics though x
